Sr. Scientist, Oncology Cancer Vaccine Bioinformatics

The Role:

Moderna is seeking a highly motivated bioinformatics scientist with expertise in cancer vaccine and immunogenomics to work as part of a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and fast-paced team. The primary focus for this position is to identify and build immunogenomics analytic pipelines. The successful candidate will work closely with computational biologists, immunologists, and translational biologists in Oncology Research support cancer vaccine discovery, translational research, and clinical development.

Heres What Youll Do

• Identify immunogenomics datasets and tools (such as IEDB, IMGT) and build analytical solutions for oncology target identification and design

• Using public and proprietary sequencing datasets, design and interpret bioinformatics analysis to derive insights for biological hypothesis and biomarker discovery

• Stay up to date with current state-of-the-art practices of multi-omics data analysis and interpretation, particularly in the fields of cancer immunogenomics

• Collaborate closely with computational and experimental biologists to support oncology research and clinical development

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems immunology, or related quantitative discipline

• Minimum 2 years Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related experience in industry

• Experience with -omics data analysis, including RNA-seq, WES, immune repertoire sequencing

• Strong coding skills with R and/or Python

• Experience with high performance computing and AWS cloud computing platform

• Prior experience leading the development and productization of prediction algorithms, ideally in the bioinformatics space

• Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset
