Senior Manager, Event Security

Overview:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Corporate Security (Operations), this newly-created position will support Gilead's attendance at key industry conferences and gatherings and ensuring appropriate security measures are in place. This is a site-based position, located at Gilead's corporate HQ in Foster City, CA, with up to 50% travel required to plan and oversee event operations.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Build, execute and continuously improve security policies, planning protocols and operating procedures for off-site events, coordinating closely with Executive Protection team, 3rd party vendors and external event management
  

• Collaborate across global Security Operations and Executive Protection teams to conduct travel and venue risk assessments prior to events and build risk-informed security plans
  
• Oversee execution of event security plans, including coverage requirements, scheduling and management of 3rd party security personnel
  
• Conduct after-action reviews and review current and past trends related to security incidents at events to identify opportunities to update event security policies and procedures
  
• Monitor information and intelligence from a variety of sources
  
• Develop, maintain, and report relevant metrics for event security procedures and activity
  

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• 8+ years of relevant experience plus a BA/BS in a relevant field, 6+ years if MS/MA/MBA
  
• Proven track record of successfully managing event security through third party vendors and teams
  

• Fluency with comprehensive safety and security models, including risk assessment methodologies, executive protection protocols and active and passive security measures
  
• Demonstrated decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  
• Able to effectively interact with stakeholders at various levels including c-suite
  

The salary range for this position is: $149,600.00 - $193,600.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
