This is a virtual role that requireds 50% travel both domestic and international.
This position is responsible for identifying and implementing the strategic approach for the Global Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) auditing program to minimize risk to employees, operations and the environments in which AbbVie operates. This includes providing oversight and direction related to compliance with EHS external regulations and internal policies/procedures worldwide and directly leading the development, implementation, execution and communication of strategies and programs for EHS Auditing. This position is also responsible for Global EHS data intelligence which supports strategic business objectives and external disclosures enhancing stakeholder perception through precise and transparent reporting.
•Manage all aspects of the Global Environmental, Health, and Safety Auditing Programs, which includes the following programs: Global EHS Audits, PEER Reviews, Hazardous Waste Vendor Audits, and Third Party EHS Data Assurance Assessments. Conduct program assessments to ensure regulatory and internal compliance as well as consistency of program implementation.
•Develop best-in-class EHS audit practices, framework, approach, policies and programs to enhance EHS compliance through working collaboratively with colleagues across the company and with external stakeholders.
•Manage Global EHS Data Intelligence within Global EHS Management System including: EHS metrics maintenance and quarterly campaigns; validating site quarterly data; GHG emission factors; and updating site square foot data, GWPs, HHV's, metrics to profiles; trending EHS Data; EHS Reporting for Global, Sites and Senior Management; and benchmarking data for Pharmaceutical Safety Group and Pharmaceutical Environmental Group.
•Provide EHS Data Intelligence in support of sustainability initiatives as needed, such as “Impact by the Numbers”, Corporate Responsibility requests, Global Target setting and site Target setting, External Disclosures, etc.
•Represent AbbVie as the Primary Contact for the Pharmaceutical Environmental Group, which is a benchmarking organization made up of peer Pharmaceutical Companies.
•Provide site level environmental support on projects to ensure compliance with both regulatory and internal standards, which will require domestic and international travel.
•Subject matter expert or Lead for identified Global EHS Management and EHS Technical Standards such as, but not limited to, Self-Assessment, EHS Assurance Review, Waste Disposal Facility Evaluation/Approval.
•Develop and implement process improvements or a new process that strengthen the EHS function and the overall organization and minimizes/eliminates risk.
•Execute assigned projects on Global Strategic Long Range Plan efficiently according to schedule and budget.

•Bachelor’s Degree (EHS Related, Engineering) plus 10+ years of EHS related experience or Master’s Degree (EHS Related, Engineering) plus 8-10+ years of EHS related experience. EHS related experience in manufacturing/R&D/Environmental is preferred. EHS or Engineering professional certification is preferred, but not required.
•Prior experience in implementing EHS regulations and internal EHS Management/Technical Standards, EHS auditing, conducting incident investigations, interacting with external organizations, and managing cross functional teams.
•Ability to plan against business targets, review and approve functional area plans to achieve key business targets and strategic plan.
•Ability to define scope and magnitude of problem, provide rapid and detailed assessment, coordinate response, present short-and long-term options, and develop procedures to minimize likelihood of re-occurrence.
•Ability to actively listen, build, and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external colleagues and stakeholders, and resolve conflict.
•Ability to successfully manage project and programs according to schedule and within approved operational budget.
