Job Details
Purpose:
Vice President, HEOR is accountable for leading the development and execution of Health Economics, Value Assessment (Health Technology Assessment), Real World Evidence (RWE), Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) and Outcomes Research strategic plans for all AbbVie products (on-market products and pipeline assets) with the objective of achieving a remarkable impact on people’s lives. This role will provide vision, strategic direction, executional oversight, and leadership to the entire HEOR organization. The position will partner with other evidence generating functions (such Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Patient Safety etc) to develop and execute Integrated Evidence Plans. The role is member of Medical Affairs & HEOR Leadership Team, and report into the SVP, Medical Affairs & HEOR.
Roles & Responsibilities:
· Drive the design and execution of global HEOR strategies and research plans for all of AbbVie’s products (on-market products and pipeline assets) that effectively meets ethical, scientific, regulatory, commercial, and quality requirements and ensure compliance with national and international governmental regulations
· Provide HEOR leadership for demonstrating the clinical, economic and humanistic patient value proposition of AbbVie’ s pharmaceutical products (on-market products and pipeline assets) globally
· Be accountable for HEOR’s strategic support of commercialization activities including the facilitation of achieving and maintaining market access, differentiation, and supporting the commercial teams in the post-approval setting
· Accountable for driving Health Economics/HTA, RWE, Outcomes Research and PROs capabilities to excellence
· Effectively collaborate with other evidence generating functions (such Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Patient Safety etc) to develop and execute Integrated Evidence Plans with the objectives of ensuring we can get our medicines into the hands of our patients
· Establish and maintain effective and timely multi-directional communication amongst all cross functional partners including, internal governance committees, cross functional teams, functional leaders
· Ensure progress of execution of HEOR pipeline and on-market programs in terms of deliverables, timelines, and budget
· Actively coach, provide, and solicit feedback within HEOR and with cross functional partners to build a cohesive and engaged team that drive superior execution and high quality deliverables
· Recruit, develop and retain diverse talent to the Strategic Initiative & Planning team that support implementation of key Global Medical Affairs & HEOR priorities and goals
· Ensure the communication of key components of research outcomes that will influence strategic decision making to internal leadership (CEO/Staff, Area VPs, GMs etc.) and external stakeholders (e.g., HTAs/Payers/Regulatory Agencies, patient advocacy groups and KOLs, etc.), and ensures that findings are integrated into asset strategy & plan
· Serve as a member of Global Medical Affairs & HEOR LT, and support advancement of strategic roadmap priorities and goals
Qualifications:
· Doctoral degree in Life-sciences, Economics, Public Health, or any other related field
· 10+ years of multi-disciplinary work experience in the pharmaceutical industry with 5+ years HEOR experience preferred
· Experience of Health Economics, Value Assessment (Health Technology Assessment), Real World Evidence (RWE), Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) and Outcomes Research
· Must also have experience with strategic, business planning, and forecasting; understanding of biometrics, biostatistics, clinical research and development methods, epidemiology, decision-analytics, marketing, public policy, compliance, KOLs,
· Broad experience across multiple functions such as Medical Affairs, HEOR, Market Access, R&D, Finance, Commercial and multiple geographic experience
· Demonstrated understanding of the complexities and success of working in the global pharmaceutical highly matrix environment including leading complex products and/or clinical development
· Proven matrix leadership skills in a cross-functional global team environment. (i.e. pricing, payor, strategists, epidemiologists, health economists, statisticians)
· Ability to interact externally and internally to support global business strategy and to interact successfully with senior leadership globally (Executive staff, Area VPs, GMs etc.)
· Strong effective communicator and ability to influence across the enterprise
· Ability to partner and build strong relationships and role model leadership behaviors
· Ability to work with a global mindset to deliver on business priorities and objectives
