Lets do this! Lets change the world. In this vital role you will lead Amgens cardiovascular and metabolic communications. The Senior Director will be responsible for mobilizing a high-performing team of communicators while working cross-functionally with senior-level business partners to deliver integrated communications strategies that support growth for the marketed portfolio, while setting the strategy for future launches.

In the near-term, the person in this role will be instrumental in driving a bold communications approach aimed at addressing a public health crisis that highlights urgency and awareness of LDL-C and its role as a risk factor for patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) . This large-scale communications effort will focus on partnering with key internal and external stakeholders to build and execute strategic communications initiatives and campaigns that underscore the importance of and drive improvements in testing and treating to guidelines.

The person successful in this role will have a passion for the patient journey and aptitude for translating scientific data for different audiences, along with ability to partner closely with leadership to deliver against priorities.

This position can sit remotely in the US, however must be willing to travel to Thousand Oaks, CA.

In this role you will need to:

• Oversees CV metabolic portfolio communications, integrate cross functionally

• Ensure alignment with Repatha communications team and prioritize work across the GenMed team

• Accelerates and advances communications strategy for LDL Action Summit and drives engagement and activities with Summit membership

• Owns Amgen Cardiovascular leadership communications plan and amplification

• Point of contact and accountability to internal Cardiovascular leadership and external partners on communications

• Inspires and manages team on ways of working and best practices

• Seek opportunities to learn, grow, and pilot new approaches and measure their impact

• Demonstrate established experience working on both data and regulatory milestones including drug launches, as well as consumer-facing campaigns

• Showcase comfort and flexibility pivoting based on new information, as well as issues management

• Deliver as a trusted counselor to executive-level staff and poised, polished presenter

• Be committed to quality and excellence

• Takes initiative as a self-starter and standout colleague

• Exhibit excellent writing and interpersonal skills

• Liaise gracefully with colleagues within Corporate Affairs including Advocacy and other functions such as Investor Relations, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Government Affairs and Commercial

• Energetic and supportive manager who advocates for staff growth

• Oversee multiple PR agencies with clear direction, while measuring results and impact

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 5 years of communications or public relations experience

Or

Masters degree and 9 years of communications or public relations experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 11 years of communications or public relations experience

And

5 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

• Fifteen years within communications or public relations.

• Deep understanding of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry or health care

• Demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering communications strategies and plans in a complex organization.

• Ability to operate effectively on large cross-functional teams and experience establishing two-way channels to open communication lines, create dialogue and ensure alignment.

• Meaningful experience in social and digital media, earned media relations, issues management and internal communications.

• Passion for the role, paired with strong written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to productively navigate a challenging and dynamic environment and adapt to rapid changes.

• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and planning skills.

• Collaboratively work with a diverse group of people and backgrounds.

• Self-starter with demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity.

• Experience in creating and translating scientific and technical content for a broad range of audiences.

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $193,275-$208,499.
