What Are We Doing?
Our foundational science harnesses the ability to create and then direct the differentiation of universal pluripotent stem cells into authentic, functional cells that can be used as allogeneic cellular therapies to treat a broad array of diseases. We can also further engineer these cells, enabling them to produce enzymes, antibodies, and other proteins for additional therapeutic benefit. The Senior Manager- Scientific Communications will report to the Sr Director, Head of Medical Affairs and will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic scientific communications plan, including publications, medical communications initiatives, and scientific training materials. This individual will serve as the scientific content expert, and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all scientific communications projects are completed in an efficient and timely manner, are medically and scientifically accurate, and are of high editorial quality.Responsibilities:
  • Lead execution of the publication and scientific communications plans.
  • Work with authors, internal stakeholders, and medical communications agencies in facilitating the development of high quality abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Contribute to the development of educational materials for use by internal, external, and field medical affairs personnel (eg Scientific Platform, slide decks, FAQ documents)
  • Act as system administrator for the electronic publication management platform
  • Assist in reviewing scientific materials for medical and scientific content accuracy.
  • Manage relationships with external medical communications agency service providers.
  • Provide quarterly and ad hoc data to demonstrate progress against key performance indicators for the function, e.g. abstracts planned vs abstracts submitted
  • Act in line with legal, regulatory and company guidelines, standards and codes of practice
  • Travel to scientific meetings as needed (~10% domestic and international)
  • Requirements:
  • Advanced Scientific Degree (Ph.D., Pharm. D) and at least 2 years of medical communications experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical company/Med Comms agency or related experience is preferred
  • Experience in neurology preferred
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data to different audiences
  • Flawless attention to detail and proven ability to complete writing assignments in a timely manner with minimal oversight
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Excellent knowledge of publications management systems (iEnvision)
  • Strong working knowledge of ICMJE and good publication practice industry guidelines.
  • Experience with managing workflows in Veeva MedComms
  • Experience working with fast paced, collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Management of consultants and/or vendors is strongly preferred
