Strategy and Planning is a newly formed team within the GCB&C organization that is focused on leading and developing the strategic direction of the organization. As part of the Global Corporate Brand & Communications Team, you will report to the SVP, Head of Global Corporate Brand & Communications.

How you will contribute:

Key Responsibilities

  • In partnership with GCBC Leadership team develop and implement GCBC strategic roadmap, following our vision and mission.

  • Lead the strategic planning process, including market research, competitor analysis, and identification of new opportunities.

  • Ensure alignment of departmental and divisional communications strategies with our overall strategy.

  • Collaborate with senior management to identify and prioritize key business initiatives, and ensure their successful execution across GCBC.

  • Conduct regular strategic reviews within the GCBC organization and make recommendations for course correction where necessary.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners, including peers within the GCBC leadership team and members of the Communications Leadership Team.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive team building and excellence program (capability building and ways of working) for GCBC.

  • Organize and coordinate leadership and team alignment through monthly reports and meetings.

  • Support the GCBC leadership team to develop, roll-out and enforce the required policies, processes and tools that drive agility and communications excellence.

  • Build an environment for excellence across the communications community by encouraging the use of harmonized processes and providing guidance on quality standards.

  • Collaborate with key communications leaders to drive up quality standards and increase agility across the communications community.

Overall team and program management

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the team building and excellence program and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Develop team as Center of Excellence for strategic advice and best practices related to a modern communications function.

  • Act as a thought partner to the Global Corporate Brand & Communications head and leadership team on overall organization strategy and programs.

  • Comprehensively analyze the stakeholder environment and gather insights to inform strategic planning, objectives and key business decisions.

  • Identify risks and put plans in place to reduce, minimize or eliminate those risks.

  • In partnership with the GCBC LT, create an energetic, results-oriented and collaborative environment, where people are well-informed, feel included and valued and are encouraged to be creative with their work.

  • Foster a culture of consistent measurement of the success of the initiatives developed against a set of goals and integrates learnings back into strategy design, seeking permanent improvement.

  • Create and/or maintain channels for engagement, cascading of information and sharing of best practices across the communications community.

  • Develop and implement initiatives and/or processes that enable effective collaboration and improve agility across the communications network.

  • Invite feedback from the communications community on areas of improvement that would encourage further collaboration, agility and excellence.

  • Manage budget, monitor and report progress to the Head of Global Corporate Brand & Communications.

  • Comply with and advocate for the company’s policies and procedures to meet statutory, quality and business requirements within the overall strategy and objectives of Takeda.

  • Act as an ambassador of the Takeda brand and great place to work message to attract quality and diverse talent.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in communication field or the equivalent through a combination of education and work experience.

  • 15+ years of experience in the field of communications.

  • Global understanding, experience and the knowledge of how to work in an international structure and varied cultures, along with experience leading communications for diverse employee populations.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and evaluate strategic options and make sound decisions.

  • Experience working with C-suite level executives and record of building and maintaining excellent partner relationships – within teams, across the business, with senior leaders and external agencies.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills consistently exhibiting ability to present unique or complex ideas, strategies and results succinctly and persuasively at the senior executive level.

  • Proven experience taking into consideration diverse input from multiple constituents and stakeholders to drive innovative solutions.

  • Ability to lead and coach a diverse team of highly-skilled communications professionals and guide peer groups toward a vision and navigate ambiguity.

  • Effective project management skills and capability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Budget management skills.

  • Change management experience is a plus.

  • U.S. and international travel will be required
