The Role

Moderna is seeking a passionate individual to be the next Director of Global Medical Field Operations. This role will support the medical field team in delivering exceptional Moderna experience to our healthcare customers/partners. This role will lead, design and operationalize digital customer engagement capabilities and products for field medical team across the globe in all direct markets. This individual will lead global business process for field operations for Medical, and work with other digital product solutions leads to ensure tight collaboration and integration of other holistic customer touchpoints providing 360-view of customer, generating actionable insights and driving Medical Affairs vision - to make every healthcare practitioner an expert in Modernas medicines.

This individual will leverage insights from field medical interactions to support future design of the solution and deliver new capabilities & competencies on a regular basis enabled by training and change management. These capabilities are meant to support field medical teams engagement strategy, improve and amplify scientific narrative which will enable Moderna to become a trusted scientific partner with our external healthcare stakeholders.

Heres What Youll Do

  • Be responsible for capturing all field medical needs around systems access, policy, standard operating procedures, and enterprise-wide field operations.

  • Oversee the onboarding and training of all new field medical personnel and own liaising with MSLs, MAs, MDs and BIS/IT for internal systems access.

  • Design and execute end to end operational processes, training and change management to improve effectiveness of field medical engagement with customers (HCPs, Pharmacists etc.)

  • Design and support 360 customer capability based on signals /touchpoints (emails, websites, congresses, social media, video, blogs, webinars etc. ) along entire customer journey.

  • Support proper design and maintenance of customer master to ensure right data attributes, accurate records, access rights, and linkages are in place allowing field to personalize engagement activities.

  • Act as the key business partner and an integrated member of the digital product team for field products to prioritize and test releases ensuring user acceptance and adoption globally

  • Establish appropriate feedback mechanism and establish periodic planning with field medical and field medical directors to improve field operations efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Partner with Digital/Technology team to constantly innovate field capabilities to improve field medical engagement workflow, reduce complexity, simplify feature integration across markets based on user impact scenarios and oversee management.

  • Provide project management leadership to resolve unique/complex with wide-reaching implications on field medical engagement activities and plans.

  • Support field medical ad hoc inquiries, data change requests, triage, prioritize and delegate requests appropriately, escalating through resolution within Service Level Agreements managed by the digital team.

  • Partner closely with your commercial field counterpart and Decision Sciences to ensure consistency of enterprise field product capabilities building around KPIs, field insights, reporting, dashboarding, training, interface experience and new product launch activities.

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree in related field

  • 12+ years of job relevant experience in the biopharma industry

  • Experience in field medical engagement for medical affairs and/or in clinical practice

  • Experience working with vendors, and relationship management

  • Experience working with different jurisdictions (ex: North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, Korea, US, Canada)

  • Experience with managing enterprise systems especially field support systems, such as CRM tools, contact centers, email systems, Veeva Medcomms etc.

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience working with management and consulting with key business stakeholders, including an ability to influence for greater outcomes.

  • Preferably experience in positions connected to supporting or managing MSLs, or other similar field medical positions

  • In-depth, comprehensive understanding of healthcare compliance for role of medical affairs with external customers engagement

  • Proven ability to work in a complex matrix setting

  • Strong communication skills with ability to influence decisions across functions, both inside and outside of Medical Affairs

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders, identify and manage issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action; excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks while working in a matrixed environment.
