The Next Generation Therapeutics team is focused on using novel modalities to deliver medicines for chronic pain and neurodegenerative disorders at speed. With high growth in this field, the Lilly Institute for Genetic Medicines is under construction, which will provide a state of the art facility for the teams dedicated to developing innovative RNA, oligonucleotide, gene and genomic based therapeutic agents.

Primary Responsibilities:

Informatics:

  • Create automated data ingestion and analysis pipelines to fuel new metrics that better characterize the performance of a therapeutic agent
  • Develop user interface improvements to encourage accuracy and timeliness of data entry
  • Create data models for new concepts and endpoints

Analytics:

  • Work collaboratively with each specialized functional team to understand the intricacies of the assays (e.g. genomics, proteomics, mass spec, histology) and ensure fit-for-purpose analyses are produced
  • Apply machine-learning methods (e.g. deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative adversarial networks) to biological imaging and NGS data

Visualization:

  • Develop new ways to visualize project status and data. Customize responses of Large Language models using Langchain to ensure responses provide up to date information for scientific audiences

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computational biology/chemistry, computer sciences, information sciences, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, or related fields.

Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Deep biological understanding of neurodegeneration and/or pain
  • Extensive programming experience with Javascript , R and Python
  • Good understanding of statistical methodologies such as mixed effects models, Bayesian inference, random forests/gradient boosting
  • Creative and critical thinking skills to solve difficult technical problems.
  • Capable of working within a matrix organization
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and deliver the results by timelines
  • Ability to adapt and exercise flexibility for changing needs, workflows and projects
  • Knowledge of RNA chemistry, experience in RNAi discovery, especially in siRNA design
  • Experience working with Cloud (AWS) and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments
