The Role

Moderna is seeking a Director, Belonging, Inclusion & Diversity, who will be a key HR leader charged with enhancing Modernas culture of Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity, and building on the companys global BI&D strategy. You will be a key partner to the HR Leadership Team and the broader Moderna community on matters relating to the way we work, building inclusive teams, and continuing to invest in a diverse talent pipeline. You will have a passion for high-quality program management that you bring to both global initiatives and to local Moderna office communities around the world. And you will be the key advisor and leader to Modernas network of Employee Resource Groups.

Heres What Youll Do

In this role, you will collaborate directly with employees and senior leaders to deliver our ambitious global Belonging Inclusion & Diversity strategy. Youll relentlessly help us pursue a culture of inclusion and belonging and partner with colleagues to extend our social impact.

Youll help Moderna build a collaborative, inclusive, and equitable environment for everyone who joins our team to pursue our mission. And, youll collaborate with corporate affairs and patient engagement colleagues to ensure the world understands how critically important equity and belonging are to us.

In addition:

  • You will be the key driver of Modernas Belonging Inclusion & Diversity five-year strategy, both leading execution of the strategy as well as ensuring theres a regular cycle of feedback, input, and refresh to keep the strategy relevant and impactful for our people and the communities of which we are a part.

  • Youll have responsibility for fostering and growing our Employee Resource Groups, including owning the day-to-day governance and coaching of the groups leaders.

  • Youll help our organization to continue moving beyond counting people to a fully integrated belonging and culture platform that leads our industry and sets a model for the post-pandemic working world.

  • Youll build on foundations already in place and lead the process to strengthen our D&I strategy to increase the diversity of our workforce and continue to build a culture of inclusion, belonging and awareness. Youll work to build a D&I framework and discourse that are globally relevant and accessible.

  • Partnering with the broader HR function, youll be fluent in our organizational data, understanding the signals the data are sending us and how to translate those signals into accountable action. Youll contribute to the people data agenda and ensure were having the right conversations at the right tables about what our people data are telling us.

  • In partnership with Moderna University, youll be a trusted advisor and coach to our senior leaders on accelerating our culture and building and leading inclusive teams.

  • Youll work to establish clear goals and design the metrics and processes that will help us measure progress and be accountable.

  • Working with the broader industry community, youll be an ambassador for Moderna to help establish us as a cultural thought leader.

  • Youll partner with our learning and development team to build resources that support our agenda and enable us to deliver on our organizational commitments.

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree required.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a global HR organization with a focused role in Diversity & Inclusion or similar field of practice.

  • Experience working globally with understanding of how culture is informed by working norms and regional perspectives.

  • Established thought leadership in diversity & inclusion with experience developing and implementing best-in-class D&I strategies and programs in global organizations.

  • Significant experience counseling, influencing and coaching senior leaders and executives on complex initiatives involving multiple considerations and stakeholders and matters that often are of a sensitive, personal nature.

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • Possess an analytical mindset and data informed approach to challenges and opportunities

  • Be a strong communicator and expert storyteller, with the ability to articulate a vision that inspires others and brings them together. Demonstrate organizational acumen with an ability to drive results through indirect influence vs. formal reporting leadership.

  • Demonstrate strong cultural acuity and the ability to work in diverse teams and groups and across geographies with a high level of agility and capacity to participate in others business critical initiatives as required.

  • Intense sense of urgency, curiosity, and ambition to excel and build something from the ground up, navigating all the requisite ambiguity and complexity that comes with writing the rulebook while executing in real time.
