Job Details
The Gene Editing Therapeutics Group is looking for a creative and highly motivated research specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work both cross-functionally with colleagues as well as independently to develop and execute assays to support the discovery, characterization, and development of CRISPR based gene insertion and gene editing technologies.
We are seeking a candidate with a fundamental understanding of molecular biology. Familiarity with viral vectors, nucleic acid biology, and cell biology is desired. The ideal candidate is highly organized, eager to learn, and able to juggle multiple tasks.
As a Scientist, a typical day may include the following:
Perform research requiring molecular biology techniques including primer design, qPCR, and ddPCR.
RNA and DNA isolation and purification from tissues samples.
Develop and execute in-house NGS workflows, including the following: NGS library preparation and quantification.
Detailed, and accurate documentation of experimental procedures, data, and analysis, including meticulous sample tracking and data management
Produce, purify, quantify, and characterize viral vectors
Manipulate viral vectors in BSL2 cell culture
Participation in team meetings and preparation of regular presentations for departmental meetings.

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, genome sciences, biochemistry, or a related field. At least two years of part-time or full-time experience in an academic/industry laboratory in a relevant field is required. Working familiarity with quantification instruments such as Qubit, TapeStation, Fragment Analyzer/Femtopulse, qPCR is desired. Knowledge of both NGS- and ddPCR- related technologies/methods is a distinct advantage.
