Pacific Biosciences seeks a smart, creative, energetic new teammate to take the design of software platform and software deployment to the next level. Be a part of a fast-paced team using and creating DevOps tools and software to implement and optimize deployments. You might be the teammate we’re looking for if you previously worked in production grade environments and have developed automated ways to deploy software to a fleet of Edge/IoT devices, or embedded systems.

Your Projects May Include:

  • Create the next generation of runtime or development environments used in scientific instruments / appliances, with custom components such as GPU and sensors.
  • Designing installation and upgrade procedures for HW/SW products.
  • Creating pipelines to deploy images or software to Linux and/or Windows systems.
  • Work with Software Engineers to ensure the stability, security, and performance of the instrument software.
  • Work with various engineering and system integration teams execute/develop end-to-end, instrument infrastructure deployment testing, crucial to feature development velocity and overall business operations.
  • Ensuring smooth hand-off to manufacturing teams to support customer needs.

 

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive understanding of Linux and/or Windows as an operating system(s), including system administration, imaging, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to create tools in PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages like Go, Ruby.
  • Deep knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or other IAC toolsets.
  • Hands on experience with server hardware.
  • Working knowledge of cloud environments AWS, Azure or GKE.
  • An extensive understanding Development process of production software and continuous integration (CI) relating to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Have a Forward-thinking with a continuous learning mindset for growth.
  • Have a focus on quality.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Being a constructive team player, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of teams across many engineering disciplines.

 

These might help you stand out if:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 7-10 years of related industry experience.
  • You have deployed software to a remote fleet of edge devices.
  • Automated production deployments with minimal or zero downtime.
  • You have experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Migrated software from a data center to the cloud.

You may be required from time to time to visit and work at PacBio locations and for such times as the Company considers necessary for the proper performance of your duties.

Salary Range:

$124,500.00 - $168,500.00
