Summer 2023 Law Intern – Data Privacy Law (Tarrytown, NY Region)

Project Description

Regeneron’s Data Privacy Office seeks a law student who is passionate about privacy and biotechnology for a ten-week summer 2022 position in Tarrytown, NY.  You should have some background knowledge in data protection and privacy law and experience working in a medium-to-large organization, preferably life sciences and/or healthcare law.

Our office offers an opportunity for you to leverage your law background and applied work experience to broaden your legal, business, and project management skills in a rewarding and challenging environment. You will work on projects across our global enterprise, including the implementation of Privacy-by-Design measures, research of legal issues, development of privacy notices, and support the operationalization of our privacy program. Issues may include privacy concerns such as, but not limited to, Big Data and wearable technologies, patient or employee data, deidentification standards, biometrics and AI.

Necessary Technical Skills

• Pursuing a JD degree, preference to students who will have completed their 1st year of law school in Summer 2023.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word and PowerPoint and using other data‐driven applications.

• Strong writing, research, communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay Range

Law Intern Rate  

$24.50 – 38.00

To be considered for this opportunity, you must be enrolled in an academic program pursuing a JD (and be returning to school the semester following the internship). Interest in privacy and data protection preferred.  A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred. We want someone who is able to commit to 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks from the end of May/ early June through August. Demonstrated leadership in areas such as campus activities, clubs, sports, current or previous work, or within the community is also preferred.
