Job Description

Job Title: Senior EHS Specialist

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA

About the role:

The Sr EHS Specialist serves as the Thousand Oaks EHS Management System Lead as aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. As a key member of the site EHS team, the Sr EHS Specialist will provide technical support to staff, colleagues in the Global Manufacturing & Supply network, and be a leader to promote a strong EHS culture and commitment to our People, Partners, and Planet. This is a fully on site role, and you will report to the Head of Environment Health & Safety.

How you will contribute:
  • Support the EHS Management System and have a comprehensive working understanding of EHS including related laws and regulations.
  • Provide management support in maintaining ISO 14000 and ISO 45001 certification status and setting goals for all EHS programs.
  • Help manage site activities, which impact areas of EHS regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate/participate in corporate/division/facility and regulated EHS audits.
  • Prepare formal agency (e.g. EPA, Cal OSHA), corporate and operating unit reports.
  • Manage process to ensure the site's EHS compliance registry is accurate and that compliance tasks are assigned to the correct role.
  • Review, approve, and manage documentation for EHS related policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the site lead for the EHS digital systems including EHS management system, Safety Data Sheet, and environmental reporting platforms.
  • Lead EHS team in the prioritization of improvements of the EHS Management System and through monitoring and measuring of EHS performance data Including but not limited to: pSIF/SIF events, audit non conformances, regulatory inspections, and other compliance obligations.
  • Responsible for the oversight of EHS training modules and learner assignments integrated in the site's Document Management System and Learning Management System.
  • Participate in site program gap assessments as new corporate standards are released.
  • Support site projects and Management of Change involving EHS aspects and impacts.
  • Lead technical reviews, investigations, and process improvement projects.
  • Contribute to integration and validation of new equipment and processes.
  • Support hazardous materials reporting and maintain clear and accurate records.
  • Provide risk assessment field support to recognize hazards, drive continuous improvement, and promote practical alternatives for risk reduction and control measures.
What you bring to Takeda:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a science or other technical field (Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial hygiene, etc.) or other related Environment, Health, and Safety field
  • 3+ Years experience in EHS in a manufacturing, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industry

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the site campus.
  • May be required occasionally to lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.
  • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.
  • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
  • May require availability outside regular business hours.

Base Salary Range: $79,800 to $114,000. Employees may also be eligible for Short-term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days and Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account many factors including location, skills, education, and experience.
