OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

The Cell Engager Team of the Oncology Drug Discovery Unit is looking for an enthusiastic lab-based research associate to support the characterisation of antibodies and immune engagers within the Cell Engager portfolio to deliver work packages related to various projects. The work will include the development and running of biological assays to characterise the antibodies, and other biologic entities, the preparation and maintenance of primary and cell line cultures and contribution to the smooth running of the laboratory. The role is laboratory-based within a dynamic cross-functional R&D team.The selected candidate will be expected to conduct routine lab assignmens and protocols; contributes to design of and implementation of improvements for routine procedures

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct of phenotypic and functional analysis of cells and antibodies according to experimental plans agreed with supervisor. This will include flow cytometry, imaging, MSD, ELISA, and cytokine analysis.
  • Primary cell culture of lymphocytes, including γδ T cells, from human tissue (skin, blood, tumour tissue).
  • Maintenance and management of primary cell cultures and tumour cell lines.
  • Accurate and timely data analysis and reporting, including use of electronic lab notebook and summarising of data in presentations.
  • Participates in the smooth running of the laboratory, including ordering consumables and preparation of shared materials
  • Participate in project team meetings as needed.
  • Maintain excellent documentation through timely data analysis and ELN entries
  • Under minimal supervision, performs a wide range of assigned research experiments with
    efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail (e.g. selects methods, troubleshoots routine and some non-routine procedures)
  • Exercises technical judgement in execution of specialized procedures and interpretation of complex results
  • Initiates routine and non-routine problem investigation and recommends solutions
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge of a scientific discipline including tissue culture, functional assays and data analysis
  • Understands specific scientific mechanisms of why a procedure works
  • Present and analyze data that can be decisional
  • May participate in project team meetings.
  • Interact with key stake holders as needed to accomplish task
  • Receives high level instructions on routine work; general instructions on new assignments; able to execute on assigned tasks with some supervision

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • BS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with 2+ years experience, or MS in a scientific discipline
  • 1-2 yrs+ experience working in a laboratory in an academic or industrial setting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with media preparation and cell culture, including primary cells preferred.
  • Experience of cell-based techniques such as flow cytometry or live cell imaging preferred.
  • Good understanding of immunology/T cell biology and previous experience in immuno-oncology is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, take the initiative and exercise good scientific judgment.
  • Excellent team player with a can-do attitude with an ability to thrive in a dynamic “biotech- like” environment and work in cross-functional project teams
  • Self-motivated, collaborative with excellent time management and organizational skills

Base Salary Range: 79,800.00 to 114,000.00. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
