This is a hybrid role which requires 2 days per week on-site at Basking Ridge, NJ or Tarrytown/Armonk, NY and 3 days work from home. Remote work is not possible at this time.
The Director, Portfolio, Planning and Operations Management will be responsible for successful completion of the P&P results for GD’s strategic, innovation and groundbreaking initiatives by driving and implementing a P&P approach and framework. Approach and Framework includes an operational plan, outlining key activities and timing, mechanism to monitor and track process, as well as customer concerns path and governance support. This role will work directly with P&P LT and program leads to support program and project management on sophisticated, cross-functional, global teams and workstreams, ensuring comprehensive planning and optimal execution of plans. Includes operational aspects such as coordination and sequencing of projects across P&P.
A typical day includes:- Providing leadership and operational support to design P&P framework/approach and high-level timeframe to critical initiatives
- Identifying and incorporate BAU and other potentially related projects and considerations into strategic planning
- Seeking input and gaining consensus from P&P LT on framework, activities, timing, and resource requirements
- Creating communication decks and emails as appropriate to inform PMO and other key team members about framework, key activities, and timing
- Collaborating with P&P LT, PMO and functional leads/Process Owner across GD to identify risk and potential mitigations
- Developing, monitoring and reporting KPIs on progress and related metrics such as resource allocation
- Ensuring project priorities and activities are strategically aligned
- Facilitating Process Governance ensuring transparency to project portfolio status and risk, team alignment and decision making
- Experience in strategic planning development and implementation and business operations
- Solid understanding of the drug development process
- Ability to structure, scope, and break down sophisticated, multi-stakeholder projects with many dependencies into well-defined workstreams/activities.
- Proven experience developing, implementing, and handling projects and programs.
- Ability to work well with a varied range of partners to incorporate new information and strive to appropriate decisions with and for the team.
- Are highly organized and efficient, possess excellent judgment with a proven track record to handle multiple tasks, sophisticated issues, and opposing priorities with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and have the ability to deal optimally with all levels of management.
To be considered you must have a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years relevant experience in strategic planning development and implementation and business operations OR a MS Degree with 10+ years related experience which includes:
- Proven experience with portfolio management handling clinical trials and/or related activities preferred.
- Lean/Six Sigma solid understanding a plus
- Experience with local and regional Pharmaceutical regulations
