The brand-new facility will utilize the latest technology to increase the company's manufacturing capacity in parenteral (injectable) medications, device assembly and packaging operations. The Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) Associate will be responsible for the development and technical support of health and safety systems, processes, and programs at the Concord site. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: regulatory and corporate HSE compliance for the site, coordination of all HSE activities for the site, tracking and trending data necessary for safe operation, site HSE improvements, and influencing business and strategic planning.

Responsibilities:

Develop, establish, and sustain health, safety and environmental systems, processes, and programs for the Concord site.  This includes both day-to-day front line support and longer term development of best practices.

Engage site resources in achieving an injury free workplace. Leverage knowledge of severe incident risk to influence minimization of potential events and increase awareness / knowledge among site resources.

Partner with construction and design build firms to ensure smooth handoff from construction to start up.

Coach and train other HSE associates.  Provide coaching to all levels of leadership in safety culture and applications.

Understand and support the HSE event, CAPA and change control processes, and influence application of the hierarchy of controls to reduce risk.

Leverage knowledge of severe injury risk to influence minimization of potential events, and increase awareness / knowledge among site resources.

Effectively train and coach employees in both technical and cultural HSE subjects

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of science in scientific, engineering, or HSE-related discipline.

Minimum 7 years’ experience in full time health, safety or environmental positions with increasing levels of responsibility in an industrial environment. 

At least one HSE-related professional certification.

Additional Preferences:

Masters degree in scientific, engineering, or HSE-related discipline.

Certified Safety Professional or certified Industrial Hygienist

Hands on, practical emergency response experience in hazardous environments.

Experience coaching leadership on safety culture.

Experience interacting with HSE regulators (OSHA, EPA, etc)

Experience mentoring early career safety professionals.

Additional Information:

Role is Monday through Friday based. Must be flexible in providing support to accommodate other inputs (production schedules, shutdowns, etc.). Occasional extended hour and / or off-hour work may be required.

Position will be based out of Concord site with ability to travel to Indianapolis and other global Lilly sites, as required.
