Position Summary:
We are looking for a Research Associate or Senior Research Associate for our Bioassay Screening group. This individual will join a team responsible for developing and performing robust, reproducible biochemical assays to support our small molecule drug discovery pipeline. This position requires a basic knowledge of molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques, as well as familiarity with biochemical assays, lab automation, and screening approaches. The successful candidate will join an established and highly collaborative Lead Discovery group that includes teams within Cellular assays, Biophysics, Structural Biology, and Protein Sciences.

What you'll do:

    • Perform weekly discovery screening cascades and prepare associated data reports.
    • Perform automation assisted high-throughput assays as well as follow up studies.
    • Develop and implement biochemical assays using diverse approaches (e.g. TR-FRET, Alpha-Screen, fluorescence polarization and more).
    • Assist scientists on the team in performing detailed mechanistic studies.
    • Contribute to several projects in parallel, balancing duties across project teams.
    • Perform all duties in keeping with the IDEAYA’s core values, policies, and all applicable regulations.

Requirements:

    • BS/MS with 2+ years of academic or industry research experience in biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
    • Hands-on experience performing biochemical assays is required
    • The ideal candidate has a background in small molecule drug discovery and development or relevant academic research experience
    • Strong troubleshooting, organization, and planning skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • One or more of the following skills is strongly desired but not essential: experience with lab automation using commercial instrumentation, familiarity with kinetics and thermodynamics for biochemistry, and experience with a programming language (e.g. Python, R, Java, Matlab) for scientific data analysis.
