Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role as the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs you will be responsible for supporting Operations. This role will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and be a member of the Corporate Affairs Senior Leadership Team responsible for shaping and leading the corporate affairs capability at Amgen. This position will support Operations and also serve as a member of the Operations Leadership Team. The position will be based in the US, with expectation of travel to domestic and international Operations sites and key events.

The Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, will be broadly responsible for developing and leading the global communication and engagement strategy for Amgen Operationsboth internally and externally. Given Amgens industry-leading biomanufacturing capability, the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs will play a key role in shaping and cascading Amgens future-ready Operations narrative in alignment with broader company priorities. This includes research, project management, strategic analysis and preparing a communication strategy for enterprise-impact projects that involve Amgen Operations leaders, external stakeholders, staff and/or situations of direct interest to Operations and Amgen.

The role will engage directly with the Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs and EVP Operations in scoping, assessing, and delivering on these projects.This includes leading a global team of site communicators working to deliver on key Amgen priorities in our site locations as well as crisis management for events such as natural disasters or significant regulatory events.

The ideal candidate will bring creativity, communication, leadership, and external engagement skills, people management, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to engage and lead at the appropriate altitude.

This role requires fluency with digital technologies and tools to deliver messages in multiple formats (social media, written communications, video, use of generative AI, etc.). Successful candidates are able to effectively blend marketing and communications tactics--developing a message brand/campaign and then creating supporting materials using a range of media types to promote and reinforce messages to stakeholders across diverse levels and locations. This role will involve regular interactions with media, Operations Leadership Team, CEO Staff as well as members of their functional teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years ofCorporate Affairsexperience OR

  • Masters degree & 10 years of Corporate Affairs experience OR

  • Bachelors degree & 12 years of Corporate Affairs experience AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years experience in Corporate Affairs related positions with increasingly progressive and impactful roles in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other industry area with strong regulatory oversight is preferred

  • Corporate Affairsthought leadership and the ability to build immediate credibility with the senior management team and the organization. This includes the facilitating of discussions and promoting collaboration across multiple parties; engaging in dialogue to reach a conclusion together, compromising as necessary for optimal results in alignment with the Amgen values

  • Technical understanding of scientific disciplines is required

  • Ability to create and execute corporate affairs strategy with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $253,353 to $306,641.
