The Global Marketing Lead (GML) is a critical role in the Global Marketing Organization that has a significant impact on products at all stages of the product lifecycle. The GML is responsible for maximizing the value of the asset by providing commercial guidance on development stage assets, developing, and implementing global launch strategies, optimizing the impact of marketing budgets, managing the lifecycle of marketed products, and supporting business developments efforts to license and acquire external assets.

The GML position will require a commercial executive with marketing capabilities, analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration skills, the ability to operate globally and locally, influencing and negotiation skills and a commercial voice across the lifecycle of brands.

In addition to the GML role, this position also serves as the single leader for the cross-functional Product Team (Product Team Lead, PTL) with accountability for product strategy and leadership throughout the product lifecycle. This position will also co-lead the commercial and cross-functional governance teams with our alliance partners.

Key Commercial responsibilities (as GML) include:

  • Development and execution of Global Brand Plan (GBP) and strong launch plans for lifecycle management indications (LCM)

  • Leading the Insight and Brand Team (IBT)

  • Leading all Global Marketing activities for assigned brands consistent with agreed Global Marketing processes

  • Provide commercial input into every cross-functional/portal decisions

  • Provide commercial input on Business Development efforts

  • Manage and coordinate with our Partners

Key cross-functional responsibilities (as PTL) include the following:

  • Delivering an integrated product strategy, which considers near and long-term broad, cross-functional impacts and region and country perspectives, accountability for the product value, profitability/product assumptions

  • Develops and articulates strategic options to make the best trade-off decisions for Amgen, global value, and risk profile

  • Leadership and team performance, responsibility for Product Team performance management by setting and clearly communicating goals that align with a compelling vision

  • Setting metrics to measure team performance, including planned vs. actual budgets, forecasts, timelines, and deliverables

  • Delivering proactive program communications to functions, countries, and regions, escalates issues and communicates decisions to all cross-functional team members and stakeholders

  • Generates high quality, focused communication of program needs and recommendations to executive management, responsibility for identifying what decisions are at the product, portfolio, functional, or regional levels

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of marketing experience OR

  • Masters degree & 10 years of marketing experience OR

  • Bachelors degree & 12 years of marketing experience AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • Executive with cross-functional collaboration skills, influencing and leadership skills and the ability to operate across multiple geographies

  • Ability to synthesize different points of view to make sound and objective decisions

  • Navigate within a highly matrixed environment

  • Experience with formulating integrated cross-functional strategies

  • Communication skills, including executive presence and presentation skills

  • Ability to lead with courage - can comfortably work through conflict, and is not afraid to make decisions and act

  • Understanding of end-to-end drug commercialization and deep knowledge of the Inflammation space, ideally with experience in respiratory market

  • At least eight years of experience in a series of commercial roles of increasing scope, scale, and complexity (ideally with General Manager experience, for a brand in the US, or for a market outside the US), with leading companies in the biopharmaceutical industry

  • Experience developing and implementing innovative global marketing and commercial strategies for pipeline products, successfully launching therapeutic products and repositioning products to maximize commercial value

  • Prior experience launching multiple products in diverse therapeutic areas is highly desirable

  • Prior experience in commercial positions with global responsibilities is important. Experience living and working outside the United States is highly desirable. Possesses an understanding of broad, global market dynamics and the cultural awareness and sensitivity to form relationships and work effectively with colleagues around the world

  • Broad therapeutic area expertise. Has worked in diverse commercial roles supporting several different disease states, on products in various stages of the lifecycle, with a diverse set of customers in challenging and competitive markets.

  • Experience supporting partnered assets/programs is desirable

  • Understanding of global market access, pricing, and reimbursement issues

  • Experience supporting product licensing and acquisition transactions. Has contributed commercial expertise in evaluating internal assets and prioritizing external opportunities. Has supported transactions by conducting due diligence, evaluating market dynamics, contributing modeling assumptions, and assisting with valuation

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $274,388 - $318,568.
