General Scope and Summary

SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a collaborative, people-first champion of integrity for the important role of Senior Manager, Field Compliance Excellence. This role will work closely with the Director, Compliance Partnership & Operations to execute Sages field partnership strategy and engage in project management and third-party oversight to achieve operational excellence. This role will also partner cross-functionally with other functions (e.g., Patient Support, Market Access) to help advance the value and understanding of Compliance resources and standards through in-person interactions and data monitoring activities.

This is a role for someone with a deep appreciation for the highest ideals of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and a broad understanding of its dynamics that are addressed through the Compliance function. The successful candidate will work well with others, have a strong sense of professionalism and objectivity, be comfortable with systems and data, be flexible to tackle assignments related to any element of an effective Compliance program, and embody the highest standards of personal integrity and accountability.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of an annual monitoring plan consistent with the Compliance Risk Assessment and the market model.

  • Partner cross-functionally with field teams and their management to advance practical application of Sages standards and manage third-party resources as appropriate.

  • Monitor business activities through observation and checklists, analyze data sets from various systems, collaborate with other stakeholders, and make sound judgements often in the absence of complete information.

  • Support the build and analysis of monitoring dashboards and data insights.

  • Support the creation of maintenance, policy, and process documentation.

  • Work across diverse systems and data sets to identify real-world intersections of teams and behaviors.

  • Analyze and interpret information in collaboration with others to facilitate continuous improvement in the Compliance Program and relevant field activities.

  • Leverage knowledge of systems and data to support operations of the Compliance function.


Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required.

  • 5+ years of progressive compliance experience, preferably within the biopharmaceutical industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cross-functional business partnership in the biopharmaceutical industry required.

  • Ability to travel regularly for live field activities, congresses, and other key meetings required.

  • Advanced degree or certification in a related skill (e.g., CPA, CFE).

  • Excellent project management skills and proven ability to manage timelines for multiple projects.

  • Familiarity with checklist-based monitoring processes and related analysis, preferably involving exposure to the monitoring practices of multiple companies (e.g., as a consultant).

  • Familiarity with the laws, regulations, and industry guidance that affect the biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and communicate a path forward in a simple, streamlined manner.

  • Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders. An ability to influence for greater outcomes and motivate and inspire others.

  • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.

  • Conflict management and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • A natural team player with effective organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency, creativity, independent thought, and ability to effectively collaborate.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills with high attention to detail.

Benefits and Compensation The base salary hiring range for this position is $126,524 - $173,971.*
  • The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, education, skills, and performance.
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Companys annual bonus plan; the bonus varies based on performance and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program.
