The Role

The Director, Market Access & Pricing Latent Viruses, is a critical role in the overall commercial organization leading and coordinating all activities aimed at building, shaping, and expanding access, achieving reimbursement, and leading institutional channel (B2B, B2G) commercialization of Modernas Latent Viruses vaccines.

The Director, Market Access & Pricing Latent Viruses will work on pipeline and launch Latent Viruses vaccines, including in priority CMV and EBV assets, in close collaboration with Global Commercial Lead, R&D strategy, and Program teams. This role will also be responsible to provide early program design and price recommendations and will also drive the cross functional market access effort and represent the integrated Payer perspective to optimize the price and access potential of the Latent Viruses vaccines. The Director will set and execute the MAP LRP, the omnichannel execution in the B2B and B2G channel, the tender and contracting (T&C) strategy and implementation, and work closely with medical to develop and execute the NITAG strategy.

Key deliverables/ output of this role include:

  • Delivering Market Access, Pricing/ T&C and HEOR input into strategic planning processes and decision gates such as TTP, Development Plan, Brand Plan, Launch Strategy

  • Defining the optimal access and (early) Pricing strategies, Tendering and Contract Strategies in partnership with the Market Access, Pricing and HEOR organization and Commercial

  • Informing price-setting through pricing research using relevant analytical approaches (game-theory, behavioral economic insights), pricing research methods (Conjoint, Probabilistic, Van Westendorp, etc.)

  • Determining optimal Value-Based or Market Based pricing strategies through the application of price setting methodologies, product label and internal product positioning

  • Supporting Global Commercial Lead in developing the B2B, B2G strategies and defining the B2B and B2G experiences and their delivery via omnichannel execution

  • Contributing to annual forecasting and budgeting processes

  • Developing deep knowledge of competitor market access and pricing/ T&C strategies proactively

  • Informing policy changes to support access priorities

Heres What Youll Do

  • Monitoring and anticipating the evolving market access, institutional customer, and competitive landscape and advocating Modernas position with respect to Market Access strategy in Latent Viruses and other non-respiratory vaccines.

  • Leading the early Market Access and Pricing activities for pipeline products in Latent Viruses and other non-respiratory vaccines

  • Leading the institutional channel (B2B, B2G) commercialization strategy of Modernas Latent Viruses and other non-respiratory vaccines

  • Working hand in hand with global functions and affiliates including Operations, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and the Brand Teams, to ensure the global strategy can be executed locally

  • Utilizing in depth knowledge of innovative pricing and contracting models to address institutional customer needs

  • Thinking innovatively about access strategies and non-traditional solutions

  • Defining and executing Tender shaping strategies

  • Setting optimal pricing and contracting strategy per market segments in strong collaboration with global market access and local pricing/access teams

  • Developing the Global Pricing Policy and associated pricing story

  • Providing pricing guidance and insights to commercial; supports strategic plans, budget and brand plan exercises with robust pricing assumptions

  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • M.S. / MBA required, advanced degree in life sciences

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the bio/pharmaceutical and/or vaccines environment

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Market Access function (with direct responsibility for Pricing, Reimbursement, Market Access, or Policy in early pipeline or launch products)

  • Experience in providing TPP, development plan and market access/early price recommendations

  • Experience developing and leading implementation of strategic pricing, tendering, contracting and negotiation

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to influence and effectively engage internal and external audiences

  • Strong sense of priorities and able to handle various projects simultaneously, sometimes with short timelines

  • Fluent spoken and written English
