Job Details
We are seeking an innovative Senior Associate Scientist to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary New Targets Investigation (NTI) group. Within NTI, we seek to identify, characterize, and validate the function of genes critical to disease onset and progression. Informed by human genetics (Regeneron Genetics Center), NTI harnesses state-of-the-art VelociGene technology to generate genetically modified mouse models, interrogate the mechanistic underpinnings of human disease, and develop targeted therapeutics. We hope you are excited by the opportunity to support the advancement of targets across multiple indication areas (cardiovascular, oncology, inflammation, metabolism). There will be a particular focus in ophthalmology and angiogenesis, with a focus on utilization of the retina as a system for exploring angiogenic targets and neuro-restorative approaches in ischemic disease.
As a Senior Associate Scientist, a typical day might include the following:
Managing colonies of genetically modified mouse lines, including generation of timed-pregnancies, tissue/organ collection, and basic injection techniques (i.p, sub-Q, oral gavage).
Conducting macro and microdissection of adult tissues/organs, embryos, retina
Histology: tissue processing, cryopreservation, tissue sectioning of OCT and paraffin embedded tissues, handling of histological slides, basic histological staining methods; immunohistochemistry and RNA in-situ hybridization methods.
Using molecular biology techniques such as manipulation of genomic DNA, RNA purification, PCR, cloning, and RNA probe labeling.
Running ELISA and Western Blot analysis.
Culturing and manipulating mammalian cell lines, including transient and stable transfections, as well as immunocytochemistry.
Conducting light and fluorescence imaging of whole mount and histological sections.
Performing data analysis, troubleshooting experiments, and recording results in an electronic notebook.
This role may be for you if you:
Would like to be actively engaged in laboratory investigation doing hands-on bench work.
Are self-motivated, organized, and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Are an independent researcher, able to effectively prioritize work and to multi-task.
Seek an opportunity to grow and learn through collaborative projects in an industry setting.
Enjoy working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Would like opportunities for presenting data in team and departmental meetings.
To be considered for this role, you need at least a BS and 5+ years or a MS with 3+ years of experience in cell biology, biochemistry, developmental biology, cancer biology, or a related field in biomedical sciences. We need someone with a diverse laboratory skill set, including proficiency in in-vivo experimentation in mouse. Experience or background in retinal biology and angiogenesis is advantageous. Proficiency in mammalian tissue culture, basic protein analysis methods, and molecular biology is required. Knowledge of flow cytometry is a plus.
