The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Desktop Engineer, Ender User Experience, to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our desktop infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and user experience. The Sr. Desktop Engineer will work closely with our IT team to provide technical support and resolve complex issues related to desktop hardware, software, and peripherals. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This role is based in Norwood, MA.

Heres What Youll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain desktop infrastructure including hardware, software, and peripherals

  • Provide technical support for desktop hardware, software, and peripherals

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to desktop infrastructure

  • Collaborate with IT team to ensure optimal performance and user experience

  • Develop and maintain desktop standards and procedures

  • Manage desktop security and compliance

  • Develop and maintain desktop imaging and deployment processes

  • Manage desktop inventory and asset tracking

  • Evaluate and recommend new desktop technologies and solutions

  • Provide training and support to end-users

  • Oversee, guide, and support the team with new hire hardware deployments, PC refresh deployments, phones, and A/V meeting support as needed

  • Mentor desktop team members. Discuss development opportunities and challenges regarding both technical and people skills. Be an active listener, offer support and encouragement when appropriate

  • Use innovative methods and technologies to identify and solve problems related to performance, reliability, and availability of systems

  • Collaborate with team leaders to ensure multichannel support for end users anytime, anywhere, on Moderna supported devices

  • Additional duties may be assigned from time to time

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; a combination of education and relative experience may be considered

  • 5+ years of experience in desktop engineering or related field

  • Strong technical skills in desktop hardware, software, and peripherals

  • ITIL Foundation Certification

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with Windows and Mac desktop environments

  • Experience with desktop imaging and deployment processes

  • Experience with desktop security and compliance

  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

  • ITIL Foundation Certification

  • Experience with cloud-based desktop solutions

  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM)

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting

  • Experience with endpoint security solutions

Under Washington State law, Moderna is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for the jobs covered by this description. Base compensation for these positions in Washington State range from $104,500 to $167,000. Actual salary determinations will take into account factors such as work location, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge, and demonstrated skills. Compensation decisions are made on the facts and circumstances of each case.
