The Role

As the Director of Decision Science - Omnichannel, you will lead a team of data scientists to advance innovative data science applications with the goal of enhancing customer engagement, which will in turn drive business growth and deliver value to customers. The focus of the role is the development of recommender systems that will guide digital commercial and medical campaigns as well as activities of field teams.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, field medical, and IT/data management stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage data for business insights and drive data-driven decision making. You will oversee the end-to-end data science process, from data preparation to model development and deployment, and be responsible for ensuring the team meets deadlines and delivers high-quality work.

Heres What Youll Do

  • Key conduit between the data science team and our marketing, field medical, sales and other stakeholders.

  • Lead a cross-functional team from various organizational areas that includes medical and commercial operations, marketing, legal/regulatory and IT as well as external stakeholders ranging from consulting partners to agencies and digital partners.

  • Guide the data exchange program between Moderna and our digital partners.

  • Own the development of omnichannel recommendation system for multiple brands in multiple countries in a lab environment and bring machine learning models to production.

  • Collaborate closely with the team responsible for automation and orchestration.

  • Continuously improve model performance.

  • Develop scalable solutions to enhance speed to market for multiple countries and products.

  • Apply stratified A/B testing and analyze/publish the results.

  • Develop and maintain a data science roadmap that aligns with business goals and objectives.

  • Define and implement data governance policies and processes to ensure data quality, security, and privacy.

  • Drive innovation in data science by keeping up to date with the latest techniques and tools in the field.

  • Mentor and develop team members to build a high-performing and collaborative team culture.

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and successful delivery of data solutions.

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.

  • A minimum eight years of experience in data science or related field (with a Masters), with at least 3 years of experience leading and managing a team of data scientists OR a minimum of five years of experience in data science or related field (with a PhD), with at least 3 years of experience leading and managing a team of data scientists.

  • Experience with using data sources based on insurance claims such as IQVIA LAAD, DDD or Symphony data sets.

  • Experience in data analysis, modeling, and machine learning techniques.

  • Experience working with large-scale data sets, data pipelines, and data architectures.

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R.

  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.

  • Proven record of bringing ML/AI products to production in a complex environment.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing and deploying statistical machine learning models including supervised (classification and regression) and unsupervised models.

  • Experience with training and deploying deep learning algorithms.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive business impact through data-driven insights and recommendations.

  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
