Our Molecular Pharmacology team is an innovation-focused organization using groundbreaking technologies to deliver maximum benefit to our patients. We are looking for a scientist who will work collaboratively to help us discover small molecule therapeutics for disease targets. You will work with experts in pharmacology, biophysics, bioanalytical, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, structural biology, and disease biology to discover and optimize molecules for human testing.

Top candidates for this position will:
  • Lead a small group of in vitro pharmacologists to enable targets for small molecule discovery. Partner with therapeutic biology leaders in diabetes, immunology, or neurodegeneration to build disease relevant assays.
  • Strong depth of expertise in cell signaling transduction mechanisms and methods to understand them. Ability to supervise scientists with a variety of expertise including receptor pharmacology and biochemistry.
  • Integrate biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology, bioanalytical methods, chemoproteomics, and chemical biology to discover medicines with differentiated pharmacology. Form strong collaborations with structural biology, medicinal chemists, computational scientists, and ADME/tox leaders.
  • Lead teams in the identification of small molecule ligands suitable for optimization by medicinal chemistry teams.
  • Build in vitro assay solutions and generate data to identify the clinical exposure requirements for target engagement and efficacy.
  • Engage internal/external resources and transformative leaders. Advance and complement internal capabilities that drive lead generation efforts.
  • Embrace diversity of thought, backgrounds, and experience to deliver creative solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in cell biology, pharmacology, chemical biology, biochemistry or closely related field.
  • 6 years of experience preferably in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting
  • Demonstrated track record for publication and presentation of research results.

Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Knowledgeable of small molecule strategies to drug challenging targets (e.g. covalent drugs, targeted protein degradation, molecular glue, bifunctional/bimodality approaches, RNA splicing modifiers)
  • Continue to learn and practice the science of drug discovery with input from scientists at all levels in the organization.
  • Contribute to scientific projects where solutions are developed through teamwork.
  • Knowledgeable of how to balance pragmatism with risk taking in the pursuit of solving difficult scientific problems.
  • Possess strong communication (oral, written), organizational, and leadership skills.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing future scientific leaders
