Job DescriptionAbout the role:
The Utilities Technician is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting equipment that supports utilities and manufacturing areas. Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cGMPs, and Quality Standards in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility are mandatory. Primary responsibilities include ensuring safe and efficient hands-on operations and limited maintenance of manufacturing and utilities systems including but not limited to WWPP, WFI, RO, HVAC, distillation, compressed air, steam, thermal fluids, and components such as pumps, fans, valves, etc.
How you will contribute:
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain various equipment through routine inspection and review.
Perform limited preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance of all associated equipment.
All work must be completed in accordance with cGMPs, SOPs, job plans, and company
policies.
Review and revise related SOPs and job/work plans for work related areas.
Assist in the development of operating and maintenance procedures.
Ensure that operational log and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
Provide support for start-up of new equipment to ensure it meets all mechanical design
specifications.
Develop a basic proficiency in one or more advanced maintenance technology and understand how to apply technology to improve equipment reliability, e.g., alignment, balancing, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound, or vibration monitoring.
Must follow all safety rules and ensure compliance with state and federal EPA regulation and laws.
Attend required Instructor Lead Trainings and planned team meetings.
What you bring to Takeda:
Requires high school diploma or GED. 2+ years of industrial experience is a must with Utilities and Wastewater experience preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to interact constructively with peers and other teams.
Ability to seek outside resources as needed.
Ability to read and understand some procedures, schematics, and job blueprints.
Provide an extremely limited level of troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair of building systems, utilities and manufacturing equipment and supporting components.
Beginner math and science skills.
Operate general laboratory equipment to assess analytical status of the utilities process.
Other Job Requirements
May work in -20°C and 43°C environments, direct sunlight, inclement weather, and limited light.
May be exposed to heights above 80’, loud noises above 85dB , dust, gases, and fumes.
May be around active equipment and machinery.
May be required to enter a confined space.
May be required to use PPE.
Work exclusively on days or nights for 12.5 hours on a 3/2/2 schedule
Work weekends and holidays.
May be required to work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids and buffers.
May be required to work or be assigned to a different shift as needed.
Limited overtime coverage is required.
May be required to frequently kneel, stand, climb, and walk to inspect, evaluate, and/or perform described maintenance activities to include lifting of items up to 50 lbs.

Important Considerations
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
Work in a cold, wet environment.
Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
