This role is responsible for strategic direction and oversight of Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Digital and Multichannel strategy and Technology platforms and digital tools driving innovation and ensuring compliance globally across all prioritized therapeutic areas. Leads development and global implementation of strategic priorities aimed at advanced analytics, digital content management, and data integration models to drive strategic Brand Strategy decisions and equip Medical In-Field teams to seamlessly execute field responsibilities across all brands and all geographies. Leads in partnership with Global Therapeutic Area teams, Global Customer Excellence teams, Business Technology Solutions as well as multiple cross functional stakeholders globally to advance system capabilities for GMA. The Director, Lead Multichannel Solutions will report directly into Head, Global Medical Excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Establish vision and strategy to drive consistent and forward-thinking multichannel and digital strategy model across AbbVie medical affairs including driving strategic approach to elevating data integration across Medical data sources and advanced analytic capability.
  • Aligned with strategic brand planning process, design and implement processes, tools and standards to support system effective pull through of the medical objectives and scientific communication priorities across multiple channels to maximize impact of scientific information globally across brands.
  • Proactively analyze external trends and internal business needs and identify opportunities through cross-functional collaboration where multichannel and digital strategies and tools can significantly drive impact in efficiency or effectiveness of AbbVie’s scientific communication and relationships with external customers and/or internally to simplify and maximize efficiency of processes through digital tools and advanced data analytics.
  • Key multichannel and digital strategy Lead for Medical Affairs on Digital, Multichannel, Data Integration/Analytics and Field Tools cross functional teams to advance Medical’s priorities aligned with broader strategic approach across AbbVie.
  • Lead continual evolution and advancement of multichannel and digital strategic capabilities to ensure highest quality and most impactful insights to inform brand strategies through integration of key data sources for Medical and superior analytic capability driving informed decisions.
  • Maintain deep understanding of compliance and regulatory standards and evolving landscape for multichannel and digital strategies within pharmaceutical industry. In partnership with BTS, ensures processes and platforms protect AbbVie data and meet appropriate data privacy requirements across the globe.
  • Design innovative measurement framework(s) including outcome measures on both leading/lagging key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance quantification of impact and value of innovative content re-use & localization, multichannel and digital strategies bring to business.
  • Accountable for global Medical governance of field tools and analytics strategies, technology platforms/systems and digital tools to ensure advancements align to broader GMA strategic priorities as well as key TA priorities to drive successful launches and execution of brand strategy.
  • Lead Field Tools & Analytics and Digital Content Management teams. Direct management responsibility for the budget, and resources, with responsibility for alignment and optimization of resources to advance multichannel and digital strategy capabilities.

Qualifications
  • Advanced degree required, preferably Masters in Information Systems/Information Technology (or similar).
  • Minimum of 8-11 years of combined experience in related area required (e.g. Information Systems, IT, Digital, Multichannel). Experience in Medical Affairs globally preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct people management with demonstrated leadership success in a pharmaceutical or Biotech company required.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within an Information Systems, IT, Digital, Multichannel, Data/analytics function required.
  • Broad base of related medical affairs experience, global experience preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of developing and implementing medical affairs scientific communications, and strategies.
  • Must exhibit strategic thought and leadership with the ability to think and lead at the big picture level as well as the ability to translate strategic objectives into specific initiatives and manage successful execution. Must have clearly demonstrated strong leadership ability, skill and sound judgment. Raises the bar and is never satisfied with the status quo.
  • Understanding of the global and Affiliate environment from both operational and IT perspective. Proven track record of working in a matrix environment, strong teamwork skills, leading cross functional teams, timely decision making and results orientation in meeting project, department and business objectives. Talent management and team building skills. Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement. Embraces ideas of others and nurtures innovation.
