The Associate Director, Tracking Excellence, will play a key leadership role within the Global Market & Customer Insights team and the larger Decision Sciences Center of Excellence. This role will sit within the Commercial organization but offers an exciting opportunity to shape and innovate the insights function across the Moderna Enterprise building collaborative relationships with stakeholders in Commercial, Medical and Corporate functions in both Global, Regional and Local Market roles.
The Associate Director is expected to lead the selection of performance indicators, design of data metrics and data generation vehicles, definition of measurement scope and design of reporting requirements and vehicles for business performance measurement of respiratory portfolio brands including pre-launch and inline. The AD will manage, engage and influence cross-functional leadership teams, and report and socialize findings to multiple levels of the enterprise ranging from execution teams all the way up to executive leadership.
The role is required to have strong strategic consultative presence and leverage technical skills in market research, data analytics and competitive intelligence to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders on insight generation, dashboarding and reporting, and socialization of insights for the purpose of commercial, medical and corporate brand management.
The Associate Director will play an active role in supporting the development of new capabilities within the Market & Customer Insights team and will be responsible for identifying and implementing ongoing process excellence, research innovation, vendor selection and management, dashboarding and digital data presentation and capability building initiatives.
Heres What Youll Do
Vendor Management: Manage multiple vendors and contractors aligned with business need, providing regular coaching, feedback, direction and guidance.
Insight Agenda: Manage Commercial / Medical / Corporate tracking research agenda and budget to reflect the insight gaps and needs of the Respiratory Franchise, in particular COVID-19 vaccines franchise. Provide regular updates to multiple leadership teams and manage a forward-looking insights generation and dissemination plan.
Research Execution and Insight Generation: Key Performance Indicators & Priority Setting: Partner with Respiratory leadership to clearly define the most important business problems to be identified and monitored in the most efficient way set annual Insights agenda for respective product areas. Manage the budget for assigned area including the Market Research and Data Analytics / Syndicated programs
Project leadership: Lead collaboration with stakeholders and Decision Science experts in defining the problems, generating metrics, shaping the analyses, and generating and synthesizing insights for the commercial/medical/corporate teams, as well as insights reporting and socialization.
Collaboration: Align and drive a competitive mindset within the organization through regular collaboration with Competitive Intelligence function in order to ensure comprehensive and relevant marketplace and congress monitoring and reporting aligned to key business needs
Primary Market Research Center of Excellence: Lead the generation of insight to provide Global/Local commercial/medical/corporate strategy and execution support thru collaboration with the commercial leads, brand teams, and (as appropriate) extended Medical, Marketing, Market Access, International and US stakeholders
Affiliate Engagement: Build key relationships and processes to align US/Global/Regional/Local Market teams on overall priorities, align efforts on key projects, and communicate and pull through implications
Brand Planning: Define the key priorities and deliverables that support the annual planning process, including Global Market Outlooks and Situation Assessments (as appropriate) for COVID-19 vaccines and combination vaccines
Develop Center of Excellence Capabilities (Functional)
Work with the Decision Sciences, Medical Excellence & Digital Leadership Team to identify and implement improvements to team operations including Market Research, Data Analytics & Knowledge Sharing/Dashboarding processes, knowledge management processes and capabilities, project management processes, and vendor management strategies.
Innovate the insight function by developing piloting and training on new and novel insight methodologies
Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelors degree in business, life sciences, pharmacy, or similar discipline
Minimum 8 or more years of relevant experience within a pharmaceutical company, market research vendor, or consulting firm supporting the pharma/biotech industry
Prior experience managing large, multi-audience, multi-product trackers (e.g., ATUs, SFE, message recall, etc.)
Experience manipulating and analyzing quantitative data from syndicated or custom surveys, patient chart studies, electronic health records, claims data, etc.

Experience managing direct reports or multi-function consulting teams
Ability to navigate and manage the needs of multiple stakeholders, including Executive Committee members, and help shape the direction of team peers and senior colleagues
Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects
Strong communication skills, particularly presentation skills
Experience working with a of biopharmaceutical company in a market research function
Experience working directly with senior biopharma clients (e.g. VP or above) and preparing data and insights deliverables for senior management
Excellent strategic thinking capabilities and equally excellent tactical execution skills
Strong understanding of marketing and market research principles
Analytical horsepower extremely strong analytic and quantitative skill set and knowledge of pharma data sources
