This position will support both, portfolio projects as well as discovery research to identify novel targets. You will work with multidisciplinary teams cross-functionally in a matrix environment and will also lead projects with external academic or private collaborators. You will be part of a cutting-edge research team with expertise in developing mechanistic insight into disease biology in the space of neuro/muscular/ cardiovascular indications. You will supervise lab-base scientists. Level will be determined based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Formulate and lead preclinical strategies to identify and validate therapeutic targets in neuromuscular and cardiac disease areas for early discovery programs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with diverse group of scientists internally as well as externally.
  • Conceptualize, design and run experiments independently.
  • Present experimental results, both internally and externally.
  • Lead and mentor junior personnel.
  • Be familiar with research advances in neuromuscular and cardiac biology to enhance the portfolio of programs.
  • Be scientifically curious and self-driven with good time management skills.

To thrive on our team, you will need to come with:

  • BS or MS  in cell biology or related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience. 
  • Hands-on experience with cell and molecular biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, immunofluorescence, qPCR, and tissue processing is essential.
  • Experience working in the neuromuscular/cardiovascular field is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with high-content imaging is desirable.
  • Understanding of clinical needs/tractability to guide early programs that will have impact on patient lives is ideal.
  • Ability to work with research vendors and collaborate to manage sponsored research agreements/contracts.
  • Excited to be a part of a multidisciplinary and cross-functional team, but also able to work independently
