Manager, Therapeutic Research, Pre-Clinical Program Management

The Role:

This role provides an opportunity to join the Therapeutic Research Pre-Clinical Program Management team and to specifically impact programs in Therapeutic Research (including immuno-oncology, cancer vaccines, rare diseases, autoimmunity, cardiovascular and pulmonary disease). Reporting to the Sr. Director of Business and Alliance Management, the position plays a critical role in shaping strategy, facilitating communication, driving programs forward, and impacting organizational aspects of research at Moderna. The Program Manager will work cross-functionally and cross-organizationally to support pre-clinical program teams, driving multiple programs in parallel. This position collaborates closely with researchers and interfaces with a broad variety of internal groups such as Non-Clinical and Clinical Sciences, CMC, Finance Regulatory and Governance. The candidate will be encouraged to propose and lead initiatives to increase efficiency, improve communication, and facilitate collaboration.

Here's What Youll Do:

• Work with the Sr Director of Business and Alliance Management and/or VP Pre-clinical Development to ensure the success and effective running of multi-disciplinary Therapeutic Research Teams from pre-clinical development into Phase 1 clinical trials.

• Lead program management activities by maintaining and monitoring program plans and progress, identifying and mitigating operational risks, resolving issues, identifying and recommending avenues for increased efficiencies, and supporting program execution to ensure that milestones and deliverables are achieved

• Enable collaboration between cross-functional teams (including Non-Clinical, Clinical, CMC, Regulatory and others) to move programs forward.

• Facilitate clear communication and decision-making between all team members and share key outcomes to broader organization. Generate presentations, as needed, to support program leads in the preparation of communications to internal leadership and governance.

• Set meeting agendas to ensure efficient data sharing and study planning. Take meeting minutes, distribute to the team and follow up on action items.

• Organize and maintain data management sites for programs to ensure that all relevant documents are readily accessible to the team

• Own timelines to ensure efficient progression and interdependent activities. Effectively communicate any changes in timeline to the team.

• Develop program budget for upcoming year with program leaders.

• Apply scientific knowledge to critically review data and present results, when needed.

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

• BA/BS in a science-related field with at least 3 years of experience conducting laboratory research in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical organization (experience in a therapeutic research area ideal) plus at least 3 years of project/program management experience, preferably in the research or discovery areas of a biotech or pharmaceutical organization

• An advanced degree (MS or PhD) ideal

• Excellent communication skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

• Ability to work independently yet engage with team members proactively and frequently to drive programs forward

• Experience in leading or working within cross-functional project teams

• Experience in managing multiple concurrent internal collaborative programs simultaneously

• Ability to communicate with colleagues of various backgrounds, including scientific/technical

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams involving different key stakeholders

• Knowledge of project and program management tools and timeline visualization software (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project etc.); Smartsheet experience is a plus

• Candidates with PMP or other professional project or program management credentials is a plus

• Experience with external alliances and/or CRO/vendor management is a plus
