When completed, the Amgen FleX Batch facility will combine the latest in disposable technologies with traditional stainless-steel equipment to allow for maximum flexibility in operations. The FleX Batch facility will not only feature the best in-class drug substance manufacturing technologies with embedded industry 4.0 capabilities, but it will also integrate sustainability innovations to reduce carbon and waste, as part of Amgen's plan to be a carbon-neutral company by 2027.

What you will do

Lets do this! Lets change the world! In this vital role, you will be responsible for corporate policies, guidelines, and standards as well as related training programs and regulatory compliance. The Environmental Sr. Manager will:

  • Manage and support site environmental and industrial safety programs while prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Build relationships with local environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct periodic audits, surveys, and inspections within established environmental systems.
  • Act as EHSS reviewer for site projects, ensuring the EHS by design process is followed and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews are completed and documented.
  • Contribute to Amgens 2027 environmental goals, as site Environmental Ambassador for sustainability programs
  • Partner to site stakeholders as EHSS client representative to ensure EHSS concerns, issues and initiatives are addressed and compliance with permits and programs.
  • Complete inspections and audits of assigned programs and permits and maintain assessments and action plans to improve programs.

Basic Requirements
  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of Environmental, Safety, Science, Engineering or EHS experience OR
  • Masters degree and 6 years of Environmental, Safety, Science, Engineering or EHS experience OR
  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of Environmental, Safety, Science, Engineering or EHS experience OR
  • Associates degree and 10 years of Environmental, Safety, Science, Engineering or EHS experience OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Environmental, Safety, Science, Engineering or EHS experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety, Sciences and/or Engineering
  • 5+ years leading programs in EHSS with an Environmental focus, hazardous waste operations and wastewater treatment program management as well as emergency response program management and training.
  • Experience in managing site environmental permits (wastewater, hazardous waste, and air) to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Proficiency in OSHA General Industry safety program requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulatory requirements, industry trends, and ability to work optimally in a globally matrixed organization and team environment.
  • Successful experience working in a plant or site regulated commercial manufacturing environment, quality and/or process development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager [CHMM] certification or similar.

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $123,743 - $153,636.
