What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex Identity Service Engine (ISE) within enterprise networks. This role requires in-depth knowledge of Cisco ISE, network security, and modern networking methodologies and technologies. The Principal Network Architect will operate within a cross-functional team and possess the vision of an Architect while demonstrating the technical detail of a hands-on Engineer: The Principal IS Architect will report to the Director of Information Systems.

  • Provides guidance to the Network Service Owner, IS Architects, full-time employees, and third-party service providers on the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the network strategy
  • Evaluates and recommend network technologies, platforms, and tools, including cloud-based networking solutions, to align with technical roadmaps and drive innovation
  • Conducts in-depth network assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
  • Stay ahead of the latest security trends and incorporate this knowledge into the design and implementation of the ISE architecture
  • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, policies, and procedures, to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of network infrastructure with various technology projects and initiatives
  • Establish and maintain network performance metrics, monitoring, and reporting to ensure visibility and proactive identification of potential issues or bottlenecks
  • Develops and implements network automation strategies to streamline network management tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce human error
  • Evaluate and manage the organizations network lifecycle, planning for regular hardware and software upgrades, and ensuring technology refresh cycles align with budgetary constraints and strategic objectives
  • Provides representation and technical interface to key internal partner organizations including virtualization, network, storage, computing, facilities, and engineering
  • Serves as a mentor and coach to junior network engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team
  • Conducts capacity planning, performance analysis, and optimization to ensure network infrastructure meets current and future needs
  • Travel: Domestic and international travel up to 25% is required

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems and Network Architect experience

Or

Masters degree and 6 years of Information Systems and Network Architect experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 8 years of Information Systems and Network Architect experience

Or

Associates degree and 10 years of Information Systems and Network Architect experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems and Network Architect experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in network architecture, design, and implementation, with at least 5 years focused on Cisco ISE and network security in complex enterprise environments
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher, with a focus on Security or Wireless; Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) preferred
  • Deep technical knowledge of modern network concepts and technologies, including Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and network automation
  • Expertise in network protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN, QOS, and multicast
  • Deep understanding of Cisco ISE architecture, deployment, and configuration, including policy enforcement, profiling, posture assessment, and guest services
  • Familiarities with network management and monitoring tools, such as Cisco DNA Center, LiveAction, or VMWare NSX-T
  • Proficiency in network security concepts and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, VPNs, and 802.1X authentication
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a commitment to continuous learning and knowing the latest industry trends and standard processes
  • Experience with cloud-based networking and hybrid environments, including AWS, Azure, and GCP is a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $141,321 to $167,253.
