What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will be a direct report to the Global Manager of Cyber Defense. The role will be based in Tampa, Florida or remotely in a US state that is in eastern standard time. They will ensure endpoint security solutions and data security capabilities meet and respond to threats against Amgens most critical digital assets. The architect will grow and transform the technologies to support the Data Security, Endpoint Security, and Security Operation Center teams security controls and capabilities. They will focus on understanding and designing security that addresses operational issues and business requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Architect and orchestrate technology strategies providing endpoint defense posture controls, Operations Technology (OT) security, and data protection
  • Plan and implement technologies relating to Information Security capabilities including issue identification and resolution, integration with other tools, documentation, gap assessment, gap resolution and continuous transformation of the capability
  • Partner with the Enterprise Architecture team to refine and develop the Amgen Information Systems City Plan, ensuring security requirements, enterprise priorities and business needs are considered
  • Collaborate and partner with other architects and technology engineers in areas such as Access Control, Application Security, Network Security, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response, and Digital Workplace Experiences
  • Develop and maintain approved security patterns, methods, and reusable elements to expedite solutions approval through SDLC and risk assessments
  • Develop and maintain secure configuration specifications for Amgen infrastructure on premise and in the cloud
  • Deliver conceptual and prose documentation for complex technical systems
  • Perform security design consulting in support of projects including participation to security architecture reviews as necessary and consulting for third party risk advisory teams
  • Provide mentorship and training on areas of expertise to information security program and to Amgen Digital, Technology, and Innovation team.
  • Participate in audits covering information security services and technologies
  • Domestic and International travel up to 10%.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience

Or

Masters degree and 6 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 8 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience

Or

Associates degree and 10 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems and/or Computer Science experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience delivering design and engineering guidance on technical systems that focus on addressing controls to handle inherent and external threats and risks to those systems
  • Ability to breakdown complex business and technical processes into elements, understand the internal and external interactions, and recommend innovative changes that provide process improvement and business value
  • Exposure to TOGAF, SABSA, COBIT, or ITIL.
  • Solid understanding of endpoint security including experience with traditional anti-malware technologies (AV), next generation anti-malware (NGAV), and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR). Examples include Crowdstrike, SentinelOne, FireEye, and Trend Micro. Knowledge of malware operations, indicators of compromise (IOC), and fileless attack vectors. Exposure to frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK or Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Alternatively, experience in data security technologies and solutions like data classification, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Cloud Access Service Broker (CASB), and data encryption. Examples include Forcepoint, Netskope, Zscalar, and Symantec. Understanding of fundamental cloud service models and associated network and infrastructure technologies. Familiarity with data security operations and basic tenants of data encryption
  • Lightweight experience with scripting (for example, PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Understanding of tools and processes across various information security disciplines like security monitoring, threat intelligence, network protection, data protection, endpoint protection, technical security assessments, security architecture, or risk management
  • Practical Knowledge of Information Security standards and policies like ISO 27001/27002, NIST, or others
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-functional initiatives without formal authority by using strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including management presentation
  • Earned or pursuing recognized security-related industry certifications such as SSCP, CISSP, CCSP, GIAC, or CISM

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $140,089 to $171,219.
