Associate Biologist

ATCC is seeking a BioProduction Molecular Associate Biologist to support the ATCC-catalog manufacturing of molecular biology and associated products. This direct hire full time position is located at ATCC's headquarters in Manassas, VA.

Under direction, this entry level life-science-manufacturing position will learn how to deploy different molecular biology techniques and good documentation practices to produce products in the ATCC catalog.  

The Associate Biologist supports the team by monitoring laboratory supplies, equipment, and cleanliness. They generally work on problems of limited scope and receive detailed instructions on the work performed. The Associate Biologist applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve routine issues while learning to apply professional concepts.

Responsibilities

1. Run established protocols and assays on biological materials and processes using standard molecular techniques and methods.
2. Utilize a variety of molecular techniques, under general supervision, to contribute to contribute to product manufacturing.
3. Collect and analyze data, make detailed observations, and report results. Test and document results neatly and accurately inbatch records and databases.
4. Support laboratory operations by ordering, monitoring, and reporting on department supply levels, monitoring equipment functionality and cleaning laboratory equipment.
5. Remain current on molecular methods, techniques, and developments.
6. Solve problems of limited scope applying organizational policy and procedure to resolve routine issues.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree within molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or material science and 0-2 years' experience or equivalent experience.
• Experience with general molecular biology techniques, such as DNA extraction, PCR, molecular cloning, and aseptic technique is preferred.
• Experience using micropipettes is preferred but not required.
