The Senior Director, Commercial Data Science will support the Oncology Business Unit (in NSCLC, CSCC and BCC indications) by leading the measurement of impact and effectiveness of commercial initiatives. This includes the design and implementation of optimization and forward-looking simulation scenarios, identification and assessment of opportunities using claims and other longitudinal datasets, and the oversight of predictive analytics, statistical modeling techniques and related analytic capabilities (e.g., Marketing Mix Analysis). The Senior Director, Commercial Data Science will work with cross-functional business partners to pull through key insights and guide stakeholders and senior management to develop brand/portfolio/Business Unit strategies and tactics.

In addition to strong analytics skills, the Senior Director, Commercial Data Science, Oncology should have excellent communication skills, a demonstrated track record of effective business partnership, business impact and influence. The ideal candidate should be able to simplify complex analytical concepts and possess strong data storytelling competencies. This role is hands on and does not have any direct reports, but will manage contractors, consultants and vendors to complete projects.  
 

A Typical Day Might Look Like This:

• Developing and implementing analytics plans that leverage more sophisticated statistical modeling capabilities.
• Managing budget, while guiding analytic investments towards projects of higher value/ROI.
• Proactively identifying business needs and proposing potential analytic approaches for solutions. Using business understanding to translate unstructured, complex business problems into the desired business objective, and developing the appropriate datasets, models, and analytical solutions. 
• Assessing impact and effectiveness of commercial initiatives and delivering investment recommendations to drive business unit efficiency, effectiveness and accountability
• Leading marketing mix and attribution work streams for Oncology, and collaborating with business partners to apply and pull through key insights. Providing recommendations to optimize investments based on simulation exercises. 
• Managing promotion response models, and developing optimization and forward-looking simulation scenarios. Clearly communicating to stakeholders and cross-functional partners on the implications forward.
• Designing and implementing experimental design studies, in market and A/B tests, etc. Collaborating with business partners on how and why commercial initiatives can be further optimized. 
• Managing and overseeing rules and logic on relevant data sources, choice of modeling approaches, development of implications and recommendations in vendor approaches and deliverables.
 

This role may be for you if:

• Experience in marketing mix, resource allocation, attribution modeling, experimental design, market structure, and impact assessment and simulation
• Expertise in applying specialized approaches in data classification, data mining, regression, clustering and other data reduction methods, NLP, image analysis, deep learning, knowledge graphs, and/or other advanced techniques (like social network analysis, neural net modeling, CART, etc.).
• Experience developing ML models & classifiers for deeper understanding of the patient journey, predictive ML models around patient disease progression, ML models using unstructured notes, etc. Experience in the use of training and holdout methods as well as the implementation of lookalike modeling
• Demonstrated experience of using business understanding to translate unstructured, complex business problems into the appropriate data problem, models, and analytical solutions. Familiarity in the deployment of data visualization platforms (like Tableau) to enable downstream consumption of complex data 
• Communication and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to succinctly and effectively present to stakeholders and senior management 
• Passion for learning and staying on top of current and next generation developments in advanced analytics (e.g. AI, voice analytics, etc.) 

To be considered you must have a Master's degree completed by start date and 7+ years of data science, business, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, business analytics, engineering, computer science or related field experience OR a Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of data science, business, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, business analytics, engineering, computer science or related field experience. Certification in Data Science (e.g., degree or certificate in data science/business analytics) Degree in STEM related field, e.g., Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Engineering, Applied Physics, Statistics, Operations Research or a related field. Experience with databases including relational, NoSQL, and Graph. Program in Python, R, and/or SAS and experience with ML libraries like scikit-learn, MLib, Keras, TensorFlow, Pytorch, etc.

Salary Range (annually)

$203,600.00 - $339,300.00
