The HR Operations Specialist will contribute towards meeting the strategic priorities of the HR Team by leading system implementations, crafting, and managing various HR related policies, workflows and processes in addition to US HR compliance and US employee generalist related activities. 

This position is incredibly important to the HR team and will be responsible for report generation, trend and data analysis. They will adapt processes and implement recommended practices in order to improve effectiveness and our collective community experience. 

This full-time role is located at our New Haven, CT headquarter location and is a hybrid role in which an onsite presence is required 2-3 days per week. The HR Operations Specialist will provide operational support to Virscio’s US and St Kitts locations.  


Key Responsibilities

  • HR generalist for US based employees.
  • Actively lead the transformation and buildout efforts of HR processes and implementation of Human Capital Management System (HCMS) technology for US and St Kitts operations.
  • Act as Security Administrator for the HCMS including but not limited to developing, implementing and maintaining processes and procedures to ensure the integrity of the HRIS/Payroll System.
  • Subject matter expert who manages the business's day-to-day operations from a system, policies, and process perspective.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, administration and refinement of programs, procedures, and guidelines which aligns the workforce with the strategic goals of the company while improving employee engagement and performance. Streamline and improve HR operations processes to enable scale, increase efficiency and minimize risk. Ensure changes to rules and regulations are incorporated and documented in HR operations processes, policies and practices.
  • Lead and participate in audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and city employment taxes, laws, and ordinances.
  • Prepare reports (e.g., workers comp, benefits, 401k, financial, and government) for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and address HR Operations challenges and opportunities.

  • Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related discipline
  • 6-8 years’ experience in HR operations, compliance and employee relations
  • Strong knowledge of US employment and labor laws
  • Experience in leading system implementations and automation of processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills required
  • Ability to design and develop workflows and processes required
  • Strong internal customer service, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Problem solving mindset with strong critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills

  • Preferred Qualifications


  • HR experience in life sciences and/or CRO industry
  • Professional HR Certification

  • Travel: Some periodic travel to St Kitts required
