We are hiring a Human Geneticist/Biostatistician Intern to join us in our mission to discover new drug targets and therapeutics that improve human health through the use of breakthrough computational methods. We are seeking outstanding individuals to join our computational biology team within the drug discovery group and contribute to our rapidly expanding portfolio of drug discovery and development programs and collaborations.

Our drug discovery and early clinical development team includes a cross-functional group of scientists and drug developers with experience working on all common target classes and therapeutic areas. The group is supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers as well as a large-scale computational infrastructure to apply our proprietary physics-based drug design and optimization platform. Ten of the programs we’ve worked on have progressed into preclinical development with four currently in clinical trials and one approved by the FDA.

Who will love this job:

  • A highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a background in human genetics and biostatistics
  • A curious scientist with a passion for discovery and teamwork and an interest in developing a career in drug discovery

What you will do:

  • Conduct analysis of large-scale human genetic and genomic datasets with the aim to initiate new drug discovery projects. Experience with data from the UK Biobank Life Sciences Consortium is highly desirable.
  • Conduct literature reviews and stay current on recent discovery of novel targets and biomarkers linked to disease risk and progression
  • Use your working knowledge of established and emerging approaches in statistical genetics to best utilize human genetic data in target and biomarker discovery
  • Stay current on the latest developments and computational methodologies in human genetics

We are looking for:

  • Recent PhD graduates or post doctoral fellows with a degree in human genetics or biostatistics

What you should have:

  • Experience in how to develop and apply statistical genetic principles and methods to analyze large, public population or familial genetic data sets
  • Experience in identifying potential genotype/phenotype/disease correlations based on large datasets
  • Experience with R and/or Python programming languages
