Position Summary

The Knowledge Transfer Associate Director in US Medical Affairs will drive development and implementation of educational initiatives in a manner consistent with best practices, applicable laws, regulations and relevant SOPs. They will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify training needs and opportunities to ensure best-in-class technical and skills training for the Field Medical team. The candidate in this position will take a leadership role in the development and execution of the U.S. Medical Affairs strategy plan through scientific and skill-based education in collaboration with home office and field-based team members, and monitoring training outcomes.   

Essential Functions

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and maintain streamlined local medical affairs training curriculum per function, in agreement with Global TCME
  • Ensure all medical affairs members complete GMA onboarding and US onboarding as applicable
  • Support development of annual training plan and curriculum aligned to Ipsen’s product portfolio, life-cycle management (LCM), and therapeutic areas of interest.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including US Medical Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, Training & Development, Clinical, and R&D) to identify training opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Global KTADs on training content development and localize materialize when applicable.
  • Lead development of new US-focused Oncology training content to meet evolving knowledge and capability requirements of field medical team.
  • Drive the development and implementation of educational initiatives in a manner consistent with best practices, applicable law, regulations, and relevant SOPs.
  • Serve as a key clinical/scientific resource to field medical team and other internal colleagues by providing ongoing product and disease state education training.
  • Implement innovative training curriculum using blended approaches (eg, live training,  interactive workshops, podcasts, virtual learning, expert led workshops, peer-to-peer sessions).
  • Collaborate with Global Medical Excellence on tools and systems to support field medical activities and training.
  • Work with external vendors on materials development.
  • Communicate with team members and leadership to ensure all needs are met.
  • Create and monitor key performance indicators to track progress and outcomes.
  • Maintain records of internal training, testing/certifications and assessments.
  • Continually provide feedback on ways to improve Medical Learning & MSL Capabilities Continuum.
  • Monitor program budgets and project scope.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Degree in Life Science preferred

Experience

  • Demonstrated 5-10 years of Medical Affairs experience, ideally as a Medical Science Liaison, Field Medical Trainer/Content Developer or Field Director in the U.S.
  • Strong, broad-based scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Knowledge of PhRMA, OIG & other guidelines relating to compliant medical communications.

Core Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and how to maximize impact of training content; established track record of effective oral presentations.
  • Strong communication skills demonstrating executive presence.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional groups (Regional & Global)
  • Excellent quantitative abilities and excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Expertise in critically evaluating scientific literature.
  • Exceptional organizational & time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a strong leader and internal partner.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to function on a cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated expertise to synthesize & communicate medical information clearly.
  • Thorough knowledge of Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Vendor management experience
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to attend medical congresses and other company meetings
