Organization Overview:

Position Description:

The Creative Lead is a member of the Creative Services (CS) team within Marketing Creative and Production Services and Lilly Marketing Studios. The Creative Lead is responsible for consulting with marketers and other team members to define and design Lilly-owned digital, print, and merchandise solutions to meet business needs. The Creative Lead oversees the creative process for tactics that require new creative design and, as needed, new content. He/she is additionally responsible for identifying opportunities for CS process improvement and alignment as well as coaching CS team members to ensure optimized team quality and efficiency.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Oversees the consistency and continuity of the corporate and individual brands across a variety of Lilly-owned tactics related to concept development, tactic creation, referencing, and annotating

  • Effectively collaborates with LCCI CS Designers and engages outside suppliers as needed for design or photography content development

  • Seamlessly partners with Lilly colleagues in Marketing, Marketing Creative and Production Services, Marketing Operations, IT, Lilly Capabilities Center India (LCCI), and other business areas and suppliers to address customer needs

  • Embraces and follows brand creative criteria

  • Understands and complies with applicable requirements as defined by the Lilly USA quality system and/or Global requirements

  • Develops and oversees development of layouts of rough ideas

  • Explores/develops/produces innovative ideas that are on strategy

  • Offers strategic and innovating solutions, adds/contributes to internal customer meetings, and effectively presents creative concepts

  • Partners with the CS team to develop all content (copy and art) to ensure that creative concepts are strategically on target, content meets company standards of creative excellence, and is efficiently delivered with high quality

  • Provides direction and coaching to art producers, designers, and production staff to ensure proper production of campaign elements

  • Works independently as well as with the CS team to develop creative and effective advertising concepts from ideation through final projects

  • Proactively solves creative problems while coaching Creative Services team members to address issues at hand

  • Recognizes and addresses important details with accuracy and efficiency

  • As needed, enters print/merchandise specifications into CustomBuy to gain estimates and timing early in the project

  • Identifies opportunities for CS process improvement and alignment and coaches CS team to ensure optimized team quality and efficiency

Minimum Experience/Personal Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related degree

  • 5+ years of creative agency or related experience as a member of the creative team

  • 5+ years of experience with recent versions of Adobe Creative Cloud applications (InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, XD, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro)

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience leading without authority, leading projects, and managing resources

  • An ability to communicate effectively (in writing and verbally) with internal customers, team members, and supplier partners

  • Proven ability to work proactively to address customer and overall business needs

  • Proven ability to effectively lead and challenge individuals from executive to associate levels and with highly diverse roles/responsibilities in the organization

  • Previous marketing, advertising, and business operations experience

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience

  • Thorough print and digital production knowledge

  • Demonstrated success in producing agency-quality creative solutions that leverage customer insights, effectively deliver on project requirements, and align to overall brand strategy

  • Exhibits excellent problem solving and strategic thinking skills

  • Works well independently and in partnership with others (e.g., brand and operations colleagues)

  • Meticulous attention to detail, including commitment to following brand and other defined standards

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure

  • Ability to manage ambiguity

  • Exemplify professional experiences working with diverse teams, populations, or cultures

  • Experience with project management approaches, including Waterfall and Agile methodologies

  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Wrike, Workfront, Workamajig, Jira) preferred

  • Demonstrated prioritization skills

  • Makes sound, timely decisions about changes to work in progress

  • High level of motivation and a strong desire to find creative solutions to challenging situations

  • Demonstrated ability to enforce business rules and policies in a constructive but disciplined manner

  • Demonstrated ability to apply all Quality and Compliance policies and procedures

  • Thrives in a collaborative environment

  • Competence with standard IT tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud – MAC platform)

  • Candidates will be expected to supply a sample of their portfolios to demonstrate expertise

  • Candidates may be invited to complete a Creative Services Skills Assessment following an initial phone interview

  • Internal Candidates: Competence with existing Lilly USA business processes & platforms

  • Internal Candidates: No CPP or GPP violations over the most recent two-year period

Education Requirements:

BA/BS in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related degree
