The Tumor Microenvironment Thematic Research Center (TME TRC) at Bristol Myers Squibb in Redwood City is focused on developing therapeutic targets at the intersection of tumor, stromal, and immune biology with the goal of enhancing responsiveness to immune checkpoint blockade as well as targeted and cell therapies. Comprised of scientists across multiple disciplines, we are responsible for the biology and translational science required to support drug development from target identification through proof-of-concept (POC) studies in cancer patients.
The Immuno-Oncology Discovery group at Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Senior Associate Scientist who will be responsible for conducting, analyzing, and reporting experiments to drive the advancement of early therapeutic targets for cancer immunotherapy. This position will have an emphasis on generating relevant data for selection of clinical candidates, and will also include early target discovery, validation, and mechanism of action studies for preclinical drug development. The successful candidate will perform various functional immunoassays to screen and characterize therapeutic antibodies, and work with cell lines as well as freshly isolated human tissue and blood cells.
In the role as a Senior Associate Scientist within the TME TRC Myeloid Biology team, the ideal candidate will:
Perform primary cell culture, immune profiling, and functional assays for screening therapeutic candidates in preclinical development
Work independently, analyze, interpret, and present data at team meetings
Write detailed protocols as well as maintain accurate and complete records
4+ years of academic and / or industry experience
2+ years of academic and / or industry experience
BS/MS degree in immunology or related field with over 4 years (BS) or 2 years (MS) of relevant experience
Experience with in vitro immune cell-based assays (cytokine production, ELISA, MSD) in the context of drug discovery is required. Experience working on tumor immunology and/or myeloid cell biology is a plus
Hands-on experience in tissue culture techniques and immune cell isolation from whole blood and/or tissues is required
Experience in multi-color flow cytometry and data analysis software (FlowJo) are essential
Flexibility and interest in learning new techniques and skills in accordance with research program needs
Proficiency in scientific and data analysis programs including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
Position requires ability to independently collaborate across a dynamic scientific environment, therefore excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills are necessary
The starting compensation for this job is a range from $79,000.00 – $110,000.00, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation is decided based on demonstrated experience.
