Scope of the role:

The Director, Cell Therapy Operations (CTO) Chief of Staff will be a key member of the CTO Strategy & Business Operations team and will be responsible for providing dedicated support to the CTO Senior Vice President (SVP) and the CTO Strategy & Business Operations (S&BO) Lead. The Director will be expected to build strong relationships throughout the organization with key internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver high quality support for leadership, and to successfully lead key strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

The Director, CTO Chief of Staff provides the Cell Therapy Operations (CTO) leadership support in the following areas:

  • Provides dedicated support to the CTO SVP and CTO S&BO, including supporting ad-hoc leadership requests, conducting assessments as needed, supporting business operations activities, coordinating site visit logistics with executive assistant, etc.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of CTO Leadership meetings (e.g. LT Meetings, Townhalls, etc.) in partnership with CTO S&BO Lead, including development of meeting agendas, supporting presenters, and developing meeting presentations
  • Responsible for supporting key leadership meeting execution, including developing clear and crisp meeting notes, and developing, tracking, and following up with stakeholders on key action items in a timely fashion
  • Partners closely with CTO Leadership and HR to define the desired organizational culture and to lead key strategic initiatives to enhance the culture of the organization
  • Leads the development and implementation of a highly effective CTO communication strategy by developing a strong understanding of communication gaps within the organization
  • Supports the creation and delivery of internal and external organizational communications for CTO Leadership
  • Leads and/or supports key strategic initiatives for the organization, as needed
  • Supports the development of a strong culture across the organization

Professional experience and qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences or related field.
  • Master of Business Administration (M.B.A)
  • 10+ years of experience within the Pharmaceutical or Biotech Industry (Manufacturing and Cell Therapy experience preferred)
  • Significant experience partnering with and supporting Senior Leaders
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing transformational organizational change
  • >2 years of experience at developing and enhancing organizational culture
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management, and familiarity with fundamental project management principles

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Very strong written and oral communications skills, along with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong Stakeholder Management skills
  • Project Management principles (PMP Certification preferred)
  • Lean/Six Sigma certifications (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory/industry requirements to work in a tightly regulated environment
  • Strategic thinking in ambiguous situations
  • Agile mindset and ways of working

Travel: This role requires about 25% travel.

Additional professional and personal requirements include:

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask and work in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Experienced in leading change and a demonstrated ability to accomplish results and meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Possesses strong collaboration, delegation and interpersonal communications skills and shares critical information with project team and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated analytical and logic skills with a focus on fact-based decision making.

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $182,000 - $229,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the geographic location where work is performed.
