The Corporate Strategy and Business Operation group partners with R&D and Commercial leaders to advance our strategic agenda and support mission-critical initiatives that will make a real difference for AbbVie’s patients.  The Director, Corporate Strategy and Business Operations will be responsible driving high-impact strategic initiatives, facilitating robust enterprise-level strategic planning, and monitoring and assessing AbbVie’s external environment. He or she will report to the Head of Corporate Strategy Group and Business Operations.  This is a highly visible position and could be a springboard to other leadership roles.    

Responsibilities:

• Promote strategic discussions on external trends, competitor strategies and potential disruptors, and translate these to strategic choices

• Shape our corporate priorities; drive clarity and alignment on “where we play” (therapeutic areas, modalities, platform capabilities, etc.)

• Provide internal consulting support for high-priority strategic initiatives that will drive transformative change and position AbbVie for future success

• Provide targeted support for AbbVie’s long-range strategic planning process, including working with leaders to shape their strategic agendas

• Partner with and advise senior management on topics relevant to their own functional areas

• Help communicate our strategy across AbbVie


Qualifications:

• Master’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Sciences, etc.) preferred

• Minimum of three years of experience in a top-tier consulting firm, preferably with healthcare experience

• Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams; pull in business and leverage interdependencies to examine and enable business outcomes

• Basic financial literacy, with strong quantitative and modeling skills and ability to distill complex information to intuitive graphs, tables and other visuals

• Strong oral, facilitation, and written communication skills
