At Gilead, Digital Media Strategy and Operations play a critical role in U.S. digital transformation, a strategic partner to our brands, and focus on delivering a superior digital experience to our customers in the U.S. As a member of the Customer Experience, Digital and Media Strategy CoE, the Digital Media and Strategy team is the main group for developing Gilead U.S.'s digital media strategy, executing, measuring, and optimizing it with improved paid digital media quality and performance in alignment with the brand teams.

As the Sr Director, Digital Media Strategy and Operations reporting to the U.S. Head of Customer Experience, Digital, and Media Strategy, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing our U.S. Commercial digital media strategy. Your responsibilities will include leading the development, scale, delivery, measurement, and optimization of all paid media initiatives for our U.S. commercial brands while partnering with Procurement and enabling functions on media purchasing and capability design.

With your expertise in data-driven decision-making and understanding of various business perspectives, you will evaluate options and influence stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes. Leading the U.S. Commercial Digital Media Strategy and Operations Team, you will manage people and agency relationships, coach and develop the team, and ensure organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute Gilead U.S.'s commercial digital media strategy, ensuring that it aligns with business goals and objectives and complies with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Act as the Business Partner (BP) to all Therapeutic Areas (T.A.s) and lead the development of media plans, budgets, and performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for optimizing digital media campaigns and improving ROI.
  • Collaborate with brand teams, cross-functional teams, and creative agencies to align digital media campaigns with business goals and objectives and oversee the development of audience targeting, media buying, and optimization strategies.
  • Manage relationships with media agencies, ensuring timely and compliant delivery of operational responsibilities in accordance with project milestones.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for digital media best practices, internal processes, and systems related to digital media, and ensure continuous improvement on paid digital media quality.
  • Partner with U.S. brand marketers to understand brand strategy, tactical plans, campaign requirements, data needs, and operational support associated with their digital marketing efforts.
  • Project manage and deliver all operational aspects of digital media efforts assigned to the role. Ensure timely and compliant delivery of operational responsibilities in accordance with project milestones.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with brand marketers, Regulatory Affairs, Business Conduct, Data Privacy, Procurement, I.T. Business Engagement, and Global Digital teams.
  • Facilitate continued educational/training opportunities for internal marketing stakeholders and external agency teams.
  • Collaborate closely with the Digital Marketing Operations team on the build-out of capabilities/requirements SOPs, rollout, and training.
  • Establish key relationships with U.S. marketing brand teams and digital marketing operation teams.
  • Use expertise to identify strategic digital media opportunities and make recommendations to enhance brand awareness and growth.
  • Monitor and analyze digital media campaign performance data to identify trends, optimize campaigns, and make data-driven recommendations to brand teams.


Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead/mentor the Digital Media Strategy and Operations team (3 direct reports) to deliver the portfolio of commercial digital media campaigns in support of therapeutic areas, working across multiple internal teams, external partners, and agencies.
  • Influence, collaborate, and interact effectively with multiple stakeholders at all levels across the Commercial Organization and company to align on operational objectives and provide consistent leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams managed.
  • Develop a team culture that emphasizes collaboration, innovation, impact, continuous improvement, employee development, and high performance.
  • Manage relationships and conduct overall project management with cross-functional partners: Gilead I.T., brand marketers, agencies/external vendors, and other commercial stakeholders across Commercial Operations.
  • Lead budget management, resource allocation, project prioritization, and scenario planning across the team.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Twelve Years' Experience

OR

PhD and Twelve Years' Experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Biotech/Pharma experience of 14+ years; plus 3-5 years of agency experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field minimum; MBA or other graduate degree is preferred.
  • Proven track record of steady career progression with increasing roles of responsibility.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience, including performance management and mentoring.
  • Project management skills, including navigating timelines, budgets, and problem-solving.
  • Media purchasing strategy, planning and execution experience in the U.S. market, in collaboration with Procurement and external functions.
  • Direct experience running marketing campaigns through a U.S. biotech/pharma regulatory review process is a plus.
  • Excellent strategic thinking skills with the ability to formulate, align stakeholders to, and execute strategy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively tailor communication to a variety of groups and audiences.
  • Experience in working with and leading cross-functional teams and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management and proven track record of managing uniquely complex and/or multiple projects/priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively navigate a matrixed organization, drive decisions and lead without direct authority when needed.
  • Familiarity with digital media and marketing technologies and platforms, including social media, SEO, SEM, programmatic advertising, and data analytics.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to U.S. pharmaceutical marketing, including FDA regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and make strategic recommendations; provide solutions to complex and uniquely complex problems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet tight deadlines.

The salary range for this position is: $230,860.00 - $298,760.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
