Job Details

As a member of the Accounting Operations team, you will be responsible for assisting on day-to-day operations and continuous improvement initiatives for the accounting department.   Your main tasks will include  supporting month end closes, gathering data, perform analysis and support decision making for projects and initiatives as needed.  You will perform a variety of critical tasks to support the day-to-day operations of the Director of Accounting Operations.  You will be a vital link between the Accounting team and the Accounting Operations team.

A typical day might include the following:

  • Support month-end close activities by executing assigned tasks in the financial systems, preparing workpapers, collating documentation for support and perform periodic reviews as assigned.
  • Perform reconciliations of metadata/data for Oracle financials,  resolve discrepancies found in reconciliation by identifying the root cause and working with appropriate functional or technical team.
  • Prepare documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for processes, enhancements and projects as needed
  •  Assist with documenting requirements, creating test cases and executing test plans for financial systems for IT incidents, enhancements, projects and periodic upgrades for systems.
  • Perform ad hoc requests related to reporting and data analysis to assist other team members, management, and audit requests.
  • Monitor accounting operations mailbox, respond to queries, liaise with functional subject matter experts (SME) or IT to resolve issues by following the established procedures and provide a nightly summary to Sr. management

To be considered for this opportunity you must possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience ideally in a science or research driven environment. Extensive experience with sophisticated functionality in Excel will be a major advantage. We need someone who has an analytical mind and can quickly understand data processes within a large ERP financial system such as Oracle, SAP or Workday.  This person should be well versed in accounting principles and P&L statements. They must have fluency with Microsoft desktop apps such as Word, PowerPoint and Visio.

Salary Range (annually)

$79,000.00 - $129,000.00
