Lilly’s Delivery, Device, and Connected Solutions (DDCS) organization is responsible for developing, launching, and continuously improving our drug delivery systems. Responsibilities:

We are seeking an inspiring, accomplished, technical expert to lead our growing embedded systems team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Recruit and develop a team of high-performing electrical and software engineers. You’ll need a passion for coaching and inspiring others to achieve new levels of success.

  • Coordinate career and professional development tailored to the needs and motivations of each team member. This includes individual training plans, performance management, and employee/team recognition.

  • Enable the team to develop and deliver safe and reliable real-time, embedded solutions. Identify improvement opportunities with systems, processes, and tools. You’ll need to recognize and eliminate barriers that impede progress.

  • Forecast and manage staffing assignments and budgets based on priorities and strategies. Provide oversight of contractors and suppliers. Maintain a robust pipeline of internal/external talent.

  • Serve as a role model and champion for DEI, product quality, HSE (health, safety, and environment), and ethics/integrity. 

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field.

  • 3+ years of experience with administratively leading technical teams developing products. 

Additional Skills / Preferences:
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and mentor junior and senior level electrical and software engineers.

  • Solutions-driven problem solver with a focus on customer needs, who can drive change, is unafraid of ambiguity, and is effective at managing a portfolio of highly-visible projects and priorities. 

  • Experience with developing systems/software in a regulated environment, preferably developing embedded electromechanical drug delivery systems with safety class C software. This would include schematic and PCB design for microcontroller-based digital/analog circuits and SDLC methodologies using C.

  • Familiarity with design controls, device risk management, and quality system requirements, including understanding of international standards ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, and IEC 62304.

  • Superior interpersonal skills, exceptional communication skills, and demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with and influence internal and external business and technical partners.

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

  • Primary location is in Indianapolis, IN. at Lilly Technology Center – North.

  • Travel: Up to 10%
