Our rapidly expanding Lilly Genetic Medicines (LGM) in Indianapolis is seeking to grow our in vivo pharmacology capabilities. Our team works cross-functionally with multiple therapeutic modalities and the ideal candidate for this position will help support efforts in diverse genetic medicines and targets. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of durable genetic medicines to patients. This position will be based in Indianapolis, IN and located at Lilly Corporate Center.

Position Summary

The in vivo pharmacology Advisor will participate and contribute to the LGM in vivo pharmacology lab, to lead efforts to support the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for genetic medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement in vivo pharmacology experiments to characterize activity of genetic medicines in mouse models
  • Lead efforts for development, characterization, and validation of novel in vivo models
  • Design and conduct studies to investigate in vivo distribution and clearance of genetic medicines
  • Establish and manage Animal Care and Use Protocols in accordance with IACUC guidelines.
  • Actively mentor and develop in vivo lab associates
  • Oversee data analysis, result interpretation, and communication to internal stakeholders and ensure accurate recordkeeping
  • Prioritize projects and allocate workload accordingly to ensure appropriate resourcing to meet personnel and project needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Preclinical, toxicology, PK/PD modelling) to ensure translation from discovery to development and to drive innovation

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in neuroscience, biology, or related discipline
  • 2-5+ years of relevant in vivo experience (academic or industry).
     

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Expert in vivo skills including rodent handling, dosing (IV, SC, IP, PO, etc.) and harvesting tissues/fluids
  • Candidates with experience doing microdissection or surgery, or stereotaxic surgery are strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in macromolecule distribution and metabolism
  • Experience with ex-vivo assays is a plus such as ELISAs, WB, qPCR and histology techniques
  • Passion, knowledge and experience in neuroscience or rare disease research
  • Strong analytic thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate issues, and extract and synthesize complex issues into key focus
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills. Proven record to collaborate and network across a wide variety of functions and work effectively with internal and external partners
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, maintain detailed documentation, and prioritize work on multiple projects
