Job Description
We are seeking a Calibration and Instrumentation Specialist I at our Foster City Campus that can provide excellent instrumentation support that will enable the calibration function to be a best in class services provider.
Location: Onsite at our Foster City site - 5 days a week
Responsibilities
Approve and oversee the timely closure of all Work Orders for Foster City (FC) Facility owned assets that are calibrated utilizing a Maximo Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Ensure all calibration and instrument “services” meet GMP requirements and that these services are performed in a manner that is appreciated by all Gilead business partners
Provide leadership and/or expertise to the following Departments: Analytical Operations, EH&S, Process Chemistry, Project Management, FPD, R&D function and Engineering
Play a major role in the asset induction and calibration process
Will act as the calibration and functional SME to all safety type instruments on the FC campus
Continuously improve the department by means of optimizing calibrations, amending procedures, resource allocation, leveraging the CMMS and providing KPI's
Oversee the implementation of measurement and test equipment (standards) to be used for onsite calibrations
Work closely with the Calibration Manager with a focus on department improvement
Troubleshoot existing installations/manufacturing equipment as well as diagnose electrical/pneumatic control signals and lab equipment
Independently develop and modify a minimum of four Standard Operating Procedures changes per year
Assist Facilities admin staff with requested tasks
Enable the Calibration function with its continuous process improvement objectives
Requirements
5+ years of relevant experience with High School degree or
2+ years of relevant experience with a BA or BS degree in a technical discipline
Able to provide results in a largescale operation that includes a very fastmoving environment, changing priorities and constant added task
Must be able to champion a wide array of large calibration related project with impacting results
Must have the ability to operate within a Work Order system, Maximo is a plus
Have demonstrated the ability to independently create, route and close change control, deviations and CAPAs using a Quality Management System.
Must have a strong understanding of calibration standards such as ISO 17025, NIST and ISA.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, MS Project and type more than 20 words per minute
Strong knowledge of automation concepts and fundamentals. Allen Bradley, Lab Watch and Siemens experience is a plus but not required
Experience in operations management, including managing technical resources, project financial reporting and planning.
Ability to lead and manage project teams, including directing field technicians and subcontractors.
Ability to read and understand P&ID's, electrical & architectural drawings
Effectively communicates with peers and project teams, including engineers, project managers, technicians, and subcontractors.
This is an on-site position. Candidate is expected to be on-site 5 days a week.
The salary range for this position is: $90,100.00 - $116,600.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
