The Role

The traditional pharmaceutical go to market model needs to change and we are looking for someone to lead the evolution! Located in our Princeton, NJ Commercial Hub, the Head of Customer Engagement, will build the US sales and promotion strategy for our dynamic and digital-first organization that is growing fast and blazing trails. You will bring a relentless drive for excellence and know how to shape and win in the market. You will leverage traditional and digital resources together effectively. You will lead our Account Management team and help to build the right mix of in-person and digital engagement that our customers need.

The Head of Customer Engagement will work together with our broader commercial team to design, build and execute a Key Account strategy that develops a market leading position for our world-changing products. This role is critical to the success of our sales organization, bringing thought leadership, innovation, coaching, and drive for results. You will take responsibility for implementing new and innovative solutions to drive growth, disrupt old ways of doing things and make changes that will drive market impact upward and lead to profitable sales.

Heres What Youll Do

  • Build and develop transformational business solutions that lead to new and non-traditional commercial channels for Modernas vaccines.

  • Set the vision for our sales organization. Develop innovative solutions translated across B2C and B2B customer segments that builds and enables a winning platform for Modernas brands and products.

  • Re-design our commercial approach digital first, segmentation, reach and frequency, data and analytics, leveraging KAMs/RAMs and other sales-based solutions. Partner with marketing and KAMs on messaging, digital tools, & customer support.

  • Identify and build win-win partnerships with organizations to simplify vaccination programs.

  • Come to the table with outside the box thinking as it relates to customer engagement. Create account strategies that reflect our approach to solving critical unaddressed health needs.

  • Deliver best-practice project management oversight for key account activities to ensure Moderna lives up to its promise to customer and patients.

  • Leverage data and digital enablement tools including AI and Machine Learning to prioritize opportunities across a dynamic landscape of potential and target key accounts.

  • Collaborate, influence and work with senior leaders across the organization to invent new solutions and bring bold ideas around how we promote and how we win in the US market.

  • Inspire others to see the vision and to execute on that vision

  • Lead our team of National & Regional Account Managers including Contract Sales Organization partners

  • Develop sales targets, examine growth opportunities, enable sales improvements, take responsibility for performance against targets as a leader

  • Implement the use digital Marketing mix/sales tools/analytics/to track how we are competing

  • Build and maintain a working understanding of the competitive landscape for our key products and the policy environment around these products. In particular, the fast-moving market for mRNA vaccines will require a high degree of adaptability and trust-building with key accounts.

  • Comply with corporate policies and procedures as well as all applicable healthcare laws and regulations.

  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree required

  • 15+ years experience building and delivering commercial solutions

  • Flexibility to travel as required

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • MBA or higher-level degree preferred

  • Experience using digital technology, data and analytics for sales strategies with experience managing a quota-based sales portfolio

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills to evaluate business insights and implement improvements as appropriate. Aptitude for framing, analyzing, and solving complex problems.

  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, to lead with a clear vision, strategy and multi-phase execution and delivery plan, effectively build support among senior executives across multiple organizations.

  • Detailed understanding of complexities of leading and enabling successful but lean field force organizations

  • Demonstrated track record of building and driving innovative strategies that drive volume and profitable revenue growth

  • Strong portfolio of commercial skills obtained through experience and application with track record of delivery.

  • Experience of success in ambiguity and a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment that is being defined in real-time. You should be driven and willing to think creatively and pursue new or novel approaches to business and market development.
