The Role
Moderna is seeking an Associate Director, Scientific Communications. This role will be accountable for the development, implementation and oversight of scientific communications within the respiratory portfolio. In particular, the Associate Director will be responsible for identifyingand finalizing key scientific messages and ensuring accurate and relevant external scientific exchange materials.
Primary responsibilities include:
Overseeing and managing content and key messages for the Scientific Communications Platform (SCP)
Driving vendor strategy and ways of working in order to manage successful and timely scientific message development
Continuously scanning the environment to understand newer ways to communicate data in a digitalized manner
Ensuring timely and effective updates to the scientific messages with the latest data and information across all countries
Heres What Youll Do
Execute the Global Scientific Communications strategy and its execution within the Respiratory portfolio, with support from cross functional colleagues
Take point on internal stakeholder meetings that help inform Scientific Communications plans and communicate Scientific messages effectively throughout the organization
Ensure timely and effective updates to scientific messages with the latest data and information across all countries
Collaborate cross functional partners to ensure projects and deliverables are aligned to medical and scientific goals
Bring innovative approaches to data dissemination through digital as well as classical channels
Design and oversee a best-in-class approach to cascade scientific messages
Oversee vendor work to ensure projects and deliverables are designed and executed seamlessly and on time abreast
Stay up to date with the latest scientific data and ensuring that the Scientific messages are updated regularly
Support Modernas scientific engagement strategy by cultivating and maintaining interactions with scientific leaders
Support MRC approvals of the scientific content of the scientific content
Coordinate the cascading of the latest version of Scientific messages globally through our systems
Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
Advanced Scientific Degree (Ph.D., Pharm. D, or MsC) with 5 years of relevant experience; or a bachelors degree with 7 years of relevant experience
Prior experience working in the pharma/biotech industry
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience in medical affairs leading communications and/or content planning
Experience in infectious diseases and vaccines is an advantage
Highly self-motivated, with a track record of excelling in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to effectively manage interactions with internal departments and externally
Ability to interact with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
Well-organized self-starter, hard-working and independent
Strong negotiation, verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills with a good awareness of global cultural differences
Maintains optimism and energy in the face of change and adversity; willing to collaborate and problem solve
Excellent attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
